Fort Bend County Animal Services and Pet Supply Plus Team Up for Pet Adoption Event to Combat Overcrowding, Support Local Shelters
Fort Bend County Animal Services (FBCAS) and Pet Supply Plus of Telfair are teaming up to host a pet adoption event on Wednesday, July 24, aiming to alleviate the pressures of overcrowding and provide forever homes for numerous adoptable pets. The event, set to start at 1:00 p.m., will take place at Pet Supply Plus in Telfair, located at 350 Promenade Way Suite 400, Sugar Land, TX 77478.
There are hundreds of adoptable animals across Fort Bend County, and a key goal of this event is to assist local shelters in providing the necessary food and care these animals require. As part of the initiative, Pet Supply Plus of Telfair will generously provide a year's supply of pet food to everyone who adopts a pet, ensuring the newly-adopted pets receive the nutrition they need in their new homes.

The benefits of adopting a shelter dog are numerous. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), adopting from a shelter is a chance to save a life, show compassion, and even improve one's own health. A shelter dog is just as capable of providing love, companionship, and joy as any other dog, and they come in diverse breeds and personalities that can match varied lifestyles and preferences.
Currently, there are 55 dogs under the care of FBCAS who have been patiently waiting for a home for more than a year. These dogs, each unique and special in their own way, are desperate for a comfortable and cozy home outside the shelter. In the face of the local pet overpopulation crisis, FBCAS and the community can make a significant difference by fostering, adopting, and rescuing, and encouraging others to do the same.
