FINAL REMINDER: Lytle National Night Out 2026 Brings Police, Neighbors Together Oct. 6

FINAL REMINDER: Lytle National Night Out 2026 Brings Police, Neighbors Together Oct. 6

Rosewood Atascosa Estates  /
October 02 2026

For two hours this October, the Lytle Community Center will become a gathering place for something simple but important: neighbors getting to know one another and the police officers who serve their community.

The Lytle Police Department’s National Night Out 2026 is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lytle Community Center on Priest Boulevard near Main Street. The department plans to provide food, drinks and snacks during the evening.

For families in Lytle, the annual event offers a chance to connect with local law enforcement away from traffic stops, emergencies and other situations that typically bring residents and officers together.

National Night Out in Lytle Focuses on Community Connections

National Night Out is built around strengthening relationships between law enforcement agencies and the neighborhoods they serve.

The national campaign began in 1984 and has grown into an annual event involving communities across the country. The National Association of Town Watch describes National Night Out as a community-building campaign centered on police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Texas is among the states that traditionally observes National Night Out on the first Tuesday in October.

That broader mission takes on a distinctly local feel in Lytle, where the evening gives residents an opportunity to meet officers, spend time with other families and strengthen the personal connections that can matter when a neighborhood needs help.

Food, Drinks and Community Groups Planned

Lytle Police Chief Richard “Richey” Priest announced in an August department update that the police department will provide food, drinks and snacks during the Oct. 6 event.

Local businesses, organizations and community groups are also being invited to participate by setting up tables or helping sponsor portions of the event. Groups interested in participating can contact the Lytle Police Department at 830-709-0277.

The department’s July quarterly newsletter also lists National Night Out among its upcoming community events and confirms the Lytle Community Center on Priest Boulevard as the location.

Why National Night Out Matters in a Growing Lytle

The gathering comes during a period of continued residential growth in Lytle. In its July newsletter, the police department noted new-home construction in the Rosewood and Saddle Ridge subdivisions and an influx of new residents.

That makes events such as National Night Out especially relevant. As new families arrive and neighborhoods expand, community gatherings can give longtime and newer residents a chance to meet face to face while becoming more familiar with the people and public-safety resources around them.

For parents, children and neighbors who may only recognize a patrol vehicle passing through town, the evening also provides a more relaxed setting to become acquainted with local officers.
