FINAL REMINDER: Homestead Estates and Eagles Landing Join Forces for National Night Out in Elgin
For families in Homestead Estates, this year’s National Night Out is shaping up to be more than an evening at the neighborhood park. It will also be a chance for two neighboring communities to work together, meet the people who serve their area and build connections that can last well beyond one night.
Homestead Estates and Eagles Landing are teaming up for a National Night Out Neighborhood Party beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026, at Homestead Estates Neighborhood Park, located at 18617 Quiet Range Drive in Elgin.
The celebration is intended for residents of Homestead Estates and Eagles Landing, and organizers are asking neighbors to pitch in with food, equipment, activities and volunteer help to make the evening possible.
Neighbors Are Needed to Help Make the Party Happen
Rather than relying on a small group to put everything together, organizers are inviting residents to help create the kind of neighborhood gathering they would like to attend.
Food donations and volunteers are needed for items such as hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, sandwiches, chips and desserts. Organizers are also looking for generators, extension cords, canopies, popcorn machines and supplies, snow cone machines and supplies, water balloons and other games for children.
Volunteers can also help with setting up, serving food, supervising activities and cleaning up once the celebration ends.
Setup is expected to begin around 4:45 p.m., giving volunteers time to prepare before neighbors begin arriving at 6 p.m.
Residents interested in providing food, loaning equipment, donating supplies or volunteering can add their information to the community’s National Night Out volunteer sign-up sheet.
For a neighborhood event built around community participation, even a small contribution can help. Someone bringing chips, lending a canopy or helping supervise a children’s activity can be just as much a part of making the evening work as the volunteers coordinating the larger pieces.
Elgin Police Officers and City Leaders Expected to Attend
The Elgin Police Department has confirmed that officers will stop by the Homestead Estates and Eagles Landing celebration, with additional information from the department expected closer to the event. City Council representatives are also expected to attend.
Those visits fit into the larger purpose of National Night Out.
The National Association of Town Watch describes National Night Out as an annual community-building campaign focused on strengthening relationships between residents and law enforcement while encouraging neighbors to get to know one another. Texas is among the states that traditionally celebrate National Night Out on the first Tuesday in October.
The City of Elgin also encourages neighborhoods across the community to participate each October. City information notes that Elgin police officers and city officials visit neighborhood gatherings as part of the effort to strengthen community partnerships.
For residents, that can mean a more relaxed opportunity to introduce themselves to local officers and elected representatives, ask questions and put faces to the people they may otherwise encounter only during official city business or an emergency.
Two Neighborhoods, One Evening Together
National Night Out is often associated with public safety, but much of its value happens in the smaller moments: meeting the family a few houses down, introducing children to other neighborhood kids or finally learning the name of someone who waves from across the street every morning.
Bringing Homestead Estates and Eagles Landing together gives residents an opportunity to expand those connections beyond their own block.
For longtime homeowners, newer residents and families still getting settled in the area, the Oct. 6 gathering offers a simple way to become more connected to the place they call home.
