The Tomball German Christmas Market is gearing up to delight visitors with its unique blend of family-friendly ambience and traditional German festivities. Throughout the weekend of December 8, this music and street festival invites attendees to revel in the warmth and joy of the holiday season. With four stages of live music and an open-air market, the historic old town area transforms into a festive haven for locals and visitors alike.
Kicking off on Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the market welcomes attendees to explore street vendors and enjoy performances by over 30 entertainers. The lively atmosphere sets the stage for a weekend filled with holiday cheer. Saturday's festivities, running from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, will be punctuated by a vibrant parade at 11:00 AM. The day unfolds with the iconic "tapping of the keg" and the Willkommen ceremony for German exchange students and their host families, culminating in the official opening ceremonies for the festival. The merriment continues on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering more opportunities to soak in the seasonal joy.
With an impressive lineup of 163 unique street vendors lining Market and S. Walnut Streets, attendees can browse and shop for German heritage items, arts, crafts, and more. For an immersive German experience, the "Weihnachtshaus" inside the Community Center at 221 Market Street showcases German clothes and souvenirs available for purchase.
Adding a competitive edge to the festivities, the market hosts entertaining contests, including the Bier Stein Hoist, Chicken Dance, Yodeling, Dance Fest and Schuhplattler, and the Greatest Beard Contest.
For added convenience, most vendors accept credit/debit cards, while beer sales are cash-only. While several ATMs are available on-site, attendees are advised to come prepared with some cash on hand. Small, leashed pets are warmly welcomed to join in the festivities.
Located at 201 S. Elm Street in Old Town Tomball near the Historical Train Depot Plaza, the market promises a historic backdrop for a weekend filled with holiday delights.
