Elgin ISD to Host Gifted and Talented Parent Information Night Sept. 22
For Elgin families who have wondered how students are referred, screened and placed in Gifted and Talented Services, an upcoming Elgin ISD meeting offers an opportunity to learn how the process works before taking the next step.
Elgin ISD will host a Gifted & Talented Services Parent Information Night at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Elgin Middle School cafeteria. The session is intended specifically for parents and guardians of students who are not currently enrolled in the district's Gifted and Talented program.
The evening will focus on three parts of the Gifted and Talented identification process: referrals, screening and placement.
What Elgin ISD Parents Can Learn
For families unfamiliar with Gifted and Talented programs, determining where to begin can sometimes be the hardest part. The Elgin ISD information night gives parents a chance to better understand what happens after a student is referred and how the district evaluates students for possible placement in Gifted and Talented Services.
Topics scheduled for the meeting include:
-
How the Gifted and Talented referral process works
-
What families can expect during student screening
-
How placement decisions are made
The meeting may be particularly helpful for parents who have noticed their child showing advanced learning abilities, strong curiosity or other characteristics that have prompted questions about Gifted and Talented education but who are unsure how the district's identification process works.
Elgin ISD Gifted and Talented Information Night Details
The EISD Gifted & Talented Services Parent Information Night will take place Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the Elgin Middle School cafeteria.
Because the session is designed for families whose children are not already participating in the program, it provides a starting point for parents who want to understand their options before pursuing a referral.
For families across Elgin, access to clear information about academic programs can make it easier to advocate for a child's educational needs. This meeting gives parents an opportunity to learn directly about the district's process and determine what steps, if any, they may want to take next.
