Elgin ISD Offers Free Virtual Family Workshops to Help Parents Support Student Success, Reading Skills and Online Safety
For parents in Elgin ISD, helping children succeed in school doesn't have to stop when the school day ends. From understanding academic progress to encouraging stronger reading habits and navigating online safety, families have an opportunity to learn practical ways to support their children at home.
Elgin Independent School District is hosting a series of five free virtual family workshops throughout October and November 2026, giving parents and caregivers tools to become more involved in their children's education. Each one-hour session focuses on a different aspect of student success, with opportunities to learn strategies, ask questions and exchange ideas with other families and school staff.
The workshops are designed to fit into busy family schedules, with all sessions taking place online from 6 to 7 p.m. Families can participate from home or wherever they have internet access.

Why These Free Parent Workshops Matter for Elgin Families
Parents often want to be more involved in their children's education but aren't always sure where to begin. Whether it's knowing what questions to ask during a parent-teacher conference, helping a reluctant reader or setting reasonable technology boundaries, small changes at home can help families feel more confident supporting their students.
Elgin ISD's family engagement workshops are intended to make those conversations easier by providing accessible resources and encouraging collaboration between parents, caregivers and educators.
The virtual format also offers flexibility for working parents and families who may find it difficult to attend traditional evening events on campus.
