Elgin ISD Families Invited to Meet Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bailey at October Community Conversations

Homestead Estates  /
September 25 2026

Elgin ISD families will soon have several chances to sit down with Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bailey for a conversation about their children, their schools and what comes next for the district.

The district is hosting four Community Conversations with Dr. Bailey in October, with meetings planned at locations around Elgin. Rather than focusing on a single issue, the gatherings are intended to give parents, guardians and other members of the Elgin ISD community a broader look at Bailey's background, the current state of student learning and plans for future growth. Just as importantly, families are being invited to bring their own ideas to the conversation.

Four Opportunities for Elgin ISD Families

Each Community Conversation begins at 6:30 p.m. The first will be held Oct. 15 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 302 W. 11th St. A second follows Oct. 20 at The Business Social, 30 N. Main St.

Families will have two additional opportunities later in the month. Bailey will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 401 E. 8th St., on Oct. 28, followed by Strait Gate Baptist Church, 209 N. Avenue C, on Oct. 29. Spanish translation will be available at all four meetings, according to Elgin ISD.

A Conversation About Students and Elgin ISD's Future

For families, the meetings offer a chance to hear directly from the superintendent about issues that can sometimes feel removed from everyday life in the classroom. The district says conversations will include the current state of student learning and plans for future growth, two subjects with direct implications for students and the families supporting them.

Bailey also plans to share more about his background and why he leads. The meetings are framed around a simple idea: "Where we are. Where we're going. How we get there together." That final piece puts families into the discussion, rather than asking them simply to listen to a district presentation.

Elgin ISD is specifically asking community members to "Share Your Hopes and Dreams for Your Wildcat!" For a parent wondering what opportunities will be available as a child moves through the district, or a family with thoughts about academics and the experience students have at school, the October meetings provide a place to raise those ideas directly with district leadership.

Choosing the Meeting That Works for Your Family

With four dates and four locations, families can attend whichever Community Conversation best fits their schedule. All begin at the same 6:30 p.m. time, and the availability of Spanish translation at every gathering is intended to make the discussion accessible to more Elgin ISD households.

For Elgin ISD families, the series is ultimately an opportunity to learn more about the person leading their school district while also having a voice in the conversation about its direction.
