Elgin High School Student Camilla Sandoval Places Sixth in Texas FFA Spanish Creed Contest
Camilla Sandoval, a student at Elgin High School and member of the school's FFA chapter, placed sixth in Texas at the senior-level Spanish Creed contest during the Texas FFA State Leadership Development Events (LDE).
The road to state began when Sandoval earned second place at the area-level competition, qualifying her for the state contest. In the first round, she competed against other top students from across the state and secured a spot in the finals. She ultimately placed sixth out of ten statewide finalists.
The Spanish Creed contest challenges students to memorize and recite the official FFA Creed in Spanish before a panel of judges. Participants are also required to answer follow-up questions in Spanish, covering topics related to the creed, agriculture, and FFA. At the state level, both rounds of the contest are conducted in front of a live audience, adding to the intensity of the event.

Sandoval’s performance reflects not only her bilingual communication skills, but also her understanding of agriculture and leadership values promoted by the FFA. It’s a notable accomplishment for her and for Elgin High School’s FFA program, which continues to support students in statewide competitions.
The Spanish Creed contest is one of several events designed to give FFA members real-world experience in public speaking, critical thinking, and advocacy—skills that are valuable both in agriculture and in broader career paths.
Camilla’s success at the state level stands as a proud moment for her school and local FFA community.
