EEYP and YMCA of Greater Houston to Host Freedom Tour This Summer

May 17 2023

EEYP is partnering with the YMCA of Greater Houston for an unforgettable Freedom Tour of the historic destinations in the civil rights movement set to take place from June 30 through July 7, 2023. The week-long itinerary includes visiting the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, exploring Beale Street in Tennessee, touring Central High School in Little Rock, and many more eye-opening experiences to provide participants with historical perspective on the significance of these world-changing events.

Participants will be challenged to use their education, passion and talents to advocate for current human and civil rights issues in their own communities. This opportunity is open to Expose Excellence Youth Program, Y TEEN L.I.F.E. and Fort Bend County High School students free of charge. Participants must be rising 10th, 11th or 12th grade students.

According to EEYP, there is a $100 deposit required when registering, but will be returned at trip check-in. A pre-trip meeting will be held on Saturday, June 10 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA located at 808 Pease Street in Downtown Houston, which must be attended by the teen participant and their guardian.

Only 40 spots are available for this unforgettable experience. Registration closes June 9th or when all spots are full.
