Deliver Hot Meals to Neighbors in Need with Northwest Assistance Ministries
Did you know that Northwest Assistance Ministries delivers thousands of nutritious hot meals to inbound seniors across the Northwest Houston region each week?
Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) needs volunteers to deliver meals to inbound seniors through the Meals on Wheels program. Drivers are needed at all three of the NAM meals on Wheels distribution offices, which are located at NAM's main office in Northwest Houston, Windwood Presbyterian Church in Cypress and LifePath Church in West Houston.
"Our biggest needs are volunteers that can deliver meals during the week", says Allison Booker-Brooks, NAM Chief Operations Officer.
Volunteers are needed Monday through Saturday. NAM asks volunteers to commit about 2 hours of time on the day(s) they deliver meals. The volunteers will pick up the meals at one of the three distribution offices, then drive a predetermined and mapped route to deliver 11-15 meals to inbound seniors.
These deliveries are sometimes the only opportunity for these seniors to have social contact with others. Is your child, homeschool group, or local Girl Scout or Boy Scout troop looking for a way to give back to our elderly neighbors while brightening their day? They can come along with their parent or guardian!
