Cypress Woods High School Wind Ensemble Selected to Perform at Prestigious Midwest Clinic
Exciting news for the Cypress Woods High School Wind Ensemble! This talented group of student musicians has been selected to perform at the 78th annual Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, making them one of only six high school concert bands invited to participate this year. The prestigious event, which takes place from December 18-21, is recognized as the world’s largest music convention, bringing together musicians, educators, and conductors from all over the globe.
The selection process for the Midwest Clinic is highly competitive, requiring applicants to submit recordings, videos, letters of recommendation, and résumés. After a meticulous review, the Cypress Woods Wind Ensemble was chosen to showcase their exceptional musical talent at this year’s clinic, marking a significant achievement for both the band and the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (CFISD). This will be the ninth time a CFISD music ensemble has performed at the Midwest Clinic since 2000, further cementing the district’s reputation for excellence in music education.
"We are so thrilled to be performing at the 78th Midwest Clinic and cannot wait to show off all the amazing work that our wind ensemble students have been putting in since July," said T.J. Peterman, Head Band Director at Cypress Woods High School. "It is an honor to be invited, and we look forward to representing our community and school district later this month. We are beyond grateful to work with amazing students every day and to be surrounded by parents, staff, private instructors, and administrators who continue to support our program and help provide life-changing opportunities for our students."
To celebrate this incredible achievement, the Cypress Woods Wind Ensemble will hold a special preview concert on December 12 at 7 p.m. at the CFISD Visual and Performing Arts Center, located at 11420 Matzke Rd, Cypress, TX 77429. The concert is free and open to the public, providing a wonderful opportunity for the community to hear the ensemble's impressive performance before their big debut at the Midwest Clinic.
The Cypress Woods Wind Ensemble will perform at the Midwest Clinic on December 20 at 2:15 p.m., where they will join top ensembles from around the world. This is an incredible milestone for the students and staff of Cypress Woods High School, and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the program.
