Hopdoddy Burger Bar Coming to Katy as The Centre at Parkwest Adds New Restaurants Along I-10
Katy residents will soon have another reason to explore the growing restaurant scene along Interstate 10. Hopdoddy Burger Bar, the Austin-born restaurant chain known for its specialty burgers, hand-cut fries and craft drinks, is planning a new location at The Centre at Parkwest, a developing shopping and dining destination near Katy Fort Bend Road.
The restaurant is planned for 24646 Katy Freeway, Suite 100, in Katy, Texas 77494, where an estimated $800,000 renovation will transform an existing vacant commercial space into a new dining spot with an outdoor patio.
And Hopdoddy will not be the only familiar name coming to the development. Plans for The Centre at Parkwest include several other restaurant concepts, giving Katy-area families and commuters more options for dining close to home.
Hopdoddy Burger Bar Plans Spring 2027 Construction Completion in Katy
According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) project filing registered October 30, 2026, the new Hopdoddy will feature 3,503 square feet of indoor restaurant space and a 564-square-foot outdoor patio.
Construction is scheduled to begin December 1, 2026, with an anticipated completion date of May 1, 2027. The project involves renovating an existing tenant space rather than constructing a new standalone building.
Although that timeline points to progress in spring 2027, Hopdoddy has not yet announced an official Katy grand opening date. The construction completion date listed in the filing does not necessarily reflect when the restaurant will begin serving customers.
From Austin to Katy: The Story Behind Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Hopdoddy Burger Bar began in 2010 on South Congress Avenue in Austin, where four friends set out to create a burger restaurant that paired freshly prepared food with the atmosphere of a neighborhood gathering place.
The concept brought together handcrafted burgers, fresh ingredients, craft beer and a more relaxed approach to casual dining. Its name combines two familiar favorites: hops, used in brewing beer, and doddy, a Scottish term associated with cattle.
The company gradually expanded beyond Austin, and its 2022 acquisition of Grub Burger Bar helped accelerate its growth across Texas and other states.
Today, Hopdoddy operates restaurants in markets throughout Texas, including Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, College Station, Corpus Christi and Greater Houston, along with locations in states such as Arizona, California and Colorado.
The planned Katy restaurant would bring the brand closer to residents who currently travel to other Houston-area locations for their Hopdoddy favorites.
What's on the Hopdoddy Menu? Burgers, Truffle Fries and Hand-Spun Shakes
For anyone unfamiliar with Hopdoddy, the menu offers plenty beyond a traditional cheeseburger.
Among the restaurant's signature selections are the Classic Cheeseburger, the Magic Shroom, made with mushrooms, goat cheese and basil pesto, and the El Diablo, featuring pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, habaneros and chipotle aioli.
More adventurous choices include the Roosevelt bison burger, topped with goat cheese and cherry-fig honey jam, and the Thunderbird chicken burger, served with roasted poblanos, pico de gallo and guacamole. The menu also features other proteins and vegetarian options.
Then there are the fries, which have become a recognizable part of the Hopdoddy experience. Customers can choose from Parmesan Truffle Fries, Green Chile Queso Fries and sweet potato fries, among other offerings.
The restaurant also serves salads, children's meals, chicken tenders and hand-spun milkshakes, with flavors such as OREO Cookies N' Cream, chocolate and brown butter vanilla. Many Hopdoddy locations also feature craft beer, margaritas and specialty cocktails.
The complete menu is available on Hopdoddy's official website, although offerings at the future Katy restaurant have not yet been confirmed.
Where Are the Existing Hopdoddy Burger Bar Locations in Greater Houston?
Hopdoddy already has an established footprint across Greater Houston, with restaurants serving communities from Cypress and The Woodlands to Richmond, Stafford and Webster.
Its existing Houston-area locations include Cypress, CityCentre, Richmond Aliana, River Oaks, Rice Village, Heights Waterworks, Vintage Park, Baybrook, Stafford and The Woodlands.
If the Katy restaurant opens as planned, it would become the brand's 11th Greater Houston location, offering another convenient option for residents of Katy, Cinco Ranch, Grand Lakes, Seven Meadows and surrounding neighborhoods.
Addresses and additional restaurant information can be found through the company's official location directory.
The Centre at Parkwest Bringing Several New Restaurant Concepts to Katy
Hopdoddy is part of a larger commercial development taking shape at The Centre at Parkwest, located at the northeast corner of Interstate 10 and Katy Fort Bend Road.
Developed by Main Street Commercial Partners, the approximately 4.5-acre project is designed to accommodate multiple restaurants, retail businesses and service-oriented tenants in a location near Katy Mills Mall, No Label Brewing Company and Legacy Stadium.
The development's conceptual plans feature a lineup of restaurant brands, including The Kebab Shop, Velvet Taco, Original ChopShop, Starbird and Hopdoddy Burger Bar. The site plans also incorporate outdoor patios, landscaped spaces and parking intended to support multiple businesses within the development.
Several projects are beginning to take shape. In addition to Hopdoddy's plans, The Kebab Shop has filed for a restaurant at 24714 Katy Freeway, while Original ChopShop has also been associated with the development. A separate construction filing outlines a 13,163-square-foot retail building, with completion anticipated in March 2027.
The proposed tenant lineup remains subject to change as leasing and construction progress.
For residents familiar with the shopping and dining options surrounding Katy Mills Mall, The Centre at Parkwest represents another addition to the area's commercial landscape. Rather than focusing on a single restaurant, the development is intended to bring several dining and retail options together, potentially making it a convenient stop for lunch, dinner or errands.
What's Next for Hopdoddy and The Centre at Parkwest?
With construction activity planned across the development, the coming months should offer a clearer picture of when Hopdoddy and neighboring businesses will be ready to welcome customers.
Additional announcements are still needed to confirm individual restaurant opening dates, final tenant commitments and hiring opportunities.
For now, the planned arrival of Hopdoddy adds another Texas-born brand to the list of restaurants preparing to serve Katy, while The Centre at Parkwest continues to take shape as a new destination along the Katy Freeway.
