Cypress Park High School Students Spread Joy to Cypress Area Seniors

December 22 2025

Cypress Park High School PACE students created festive holiday cards that will be sent to Avanti Senior Living at Towne Lake to remind senior residents that they are appreciated and thought about during the holiday season.

“We just want the elderly to know that are loved, and we think about them,” said Lori Lewis, Cypress Park PACE team leader. “Hopefully these bring them comfort and let them know we want them to have a good holiday.”

To make the holiday cards, students used paper to write out something cheerful and optimistic, and used donated craft supplies from teachers to decorate the cards. The cards were decorated with festive colors and drawings.

“This gives students the opportunity to give back to the community and do something great for someone else,” said Tamia Brice, Cypress Park PACE teacher.

Not only did students participate in a fun activity, but they got the chance to do something generous for someone else to really show what the holidays are about. The cards will be sent throughout December.

“This is something people think of doing, but nobody does,” said Cypress Park freshman Faderera Olatunji. “Giving these cards may seem small, but at the end of the day, you don’t know what someone is going through, and just maybe a simple card will make their day.”
