Cypress Falls High School Junior Named CFISD Student of the Week

September 15 2025

With a 6.57 GPA, a string of student leadership roles, and an unwavering love for kittens and piano, Cypress Falls High School junior Janelle Ho has earned her place as CFISD’s Student of the Week.

At just 16, Janelle has already made a lasting impact on her campus through club leadership, cultural outreach, and academic commitment. Teachers describe her as a model student whose initiative has inspired her peers and contributed to a thriving school community.

Janelle founded the Cypress Falls Badminton Club, which now boasts over 30 active members. In addition to rallying classmates around sport and recreation, she also launched the Improving Minds chapter on campus, an initiative that promotes mental health awareness and academic support. She serves as an officer for the Asian Student Association, continuing to advocate for inclusivity and cultural engagement across campus.

Outside of school hours, she teaches as a volunteer assistant at the CFISD Vietnamese American campus, having graduated from Vietnamese School herself. It’s one of many ways she stays connected to her heritage and helps others grow.

“My favorite class is Algebra II because it is easy and I understand the importance of math in overall education,” Janelle shared. She’s currently enrolled in the Cypress Falls Practicum in Business Management and has a clear vision for her future: “I want to be the CEO of my own business.”

But beyond leadership and academics, Janelle’s heart shines through in the small things. Her passions include piano, travel, tutoring, Vietnamese organizations—and of course, cats.

“I enjoy piano, family time and kittens,” she said, listing those three among the things she couldn’t live without. When asked about her favorite entertainment picks, she named Blue by Yung Kai, Busted as her favorite TV show, and The Greatest Showman as her go-to movie. Her favorite app? Instagram.

Janelle's commitment to learning, her cultural pride, and her heart for helping others make her an exceptional role model for CFISD students of all ages.
