Cy-Fair Women's Club Supports Families in Need for Back-to-School
While parents, teachers and students prepared for back-to-school in July and August, so did Cy-Fair's Pink Ladies.
Over the months of June and July, the Cy-Fair Women's Club's Pink Ladies collected, packed and donated school supplies for Operation Backpack at the Langham Creek Family YMCA to help ensure a successful start to the school year for youth in the community. Two of the CWC's community partners also participated in donating school supplies. Shelfgenie donated six dozen much-needed clear backpacks and HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress held a school supply drive. The Pink Ladies and volunteers from HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress sorted, inventoried, and packed the backpacks for distribution.
In addition to the YMCA's Operation Backpack initiative, the CWC Pink Ladies helped distribute backpacks during Cy-Fair Helping Hands' Back to School Bash. More than 900 backpacks were given to students of all ages as families enjoyed games and food, and received helpful information before the start of school. Barkley's Bookshelf also attended the event and provided books to students of all ages. Both CFFH and Barkley's Bookshelf are CWC Ways and Means recipients.
CWC Pink Ladies also assisted Cypress Assistance Ministries' Back to School Jam, where children of all ages received backpacks and school supplies. Local vendors supported the event also by bringing games, helpful information, and free concessions for attendees. A firetruck and ambulance were also on scene for the children's enjoyment.
While many families are feeling the crunch of inflation and struggling to make ends meet, the Cy-Fair Women's Club once again rallied volunteers, community partners and other organizations to help bridge the gap for Cy-Fair families in need. The CWC has a longstanding reputation for striving to make a positive impact in the lives of Cy-Fair residents, and their doors are always open to new members who share in their passion for service.
