May 01 2025

The Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) will hold its next Regular Board Meeting on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Mark Henry Administration Building, located at 11440 Matzke Road, Cypress, TX 77429. With a full agenda scheduled, the meeting will cover a range of important topics—from recognizing student and community achievements to updates on the district’s operating budget and potential policy changes.

The meeting is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend or register to speak, helping shape the direction of the third-largest school district in Texas.

Agenda Highlights: What’s on the Table

The May 5 board meeting will open with the Pledge of Allegiance, invocation, and a reaffirmation of the district’s vision and mission. The agenda includes the following key items:

Superintendent’s Remarks and Recognitions
  • Honoring recent achievements of students and staff

  • Celebrating partnerships, including business partners, livestock show champions, and Jarrar & Company Inc., winner of the Volume Buyer Buckle

  • Recognizing participants in the Superintendent Student Leadership Committee and the new Leadership CFISD Program

Reports
  • An update on the general operating budget

  • Legislative developments from the 89th Legislative Session

  • Approval of professional service agreements, infrastructure easements, and transportation service purchases

  • TASB Board of Directors nominations

  • Deliberations on employee contract terminations and appeals of district decisions

Many of these items will be considered during both the consent and non-consent portions of the agenda, with some matters discussed in closed session, in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.

How to Speak at the May 5 CFISD Board Meeting

Residents interested in addressing the Board during the meeting can do so during two distinct sections: Agenda Comments (comments on posted agenda items) and Citizen Participation (comments on any topic not listed on the agenda).

To speak at the meeting:

  • You must register in advance by completing the electronic speaker form found under each agenda item or the Citizen Participation section on the CFISD Board Meeting webpage.

  • Registration opens the day the agenda is posted and closes at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

  • All speaker forms must be completed in full.

  • Registered speakers who are not present when called will forfeit their opportunity to speak but may still submit written comments to the Board.

Why Community Participation Matters

Regular board meetings offer an essential window into the governance of Cy-Fair ISD, which serves over 118,000 students across northwest Harris County. Topics such as school funding, academic programs, facilities, safety, and teacher support are regularly discussed and directly impact students, families, and staff.

By attending meetings or speaking directly to the Board, residents can express support, raise concerns, or simply stay informed about the district’s progress and priorities.
