Cy-Fair ISD Students Shine in Crime Stoppers PSA Contest with Powerful Anti-Bullying Messages

May 22 2025

Students from Cypress-Fairbanks ISD made a strong showing in this year’s Crime Stoppers of Houston School PSA Video Contest, using their creativity and voices to shed light on the dangers of bullying and cyberbullying.

Audio Video Production (AVP) students from Cypress Woods High School and Jersey Village High School placed second and third respectively in the sixth annual competition. The 2024–2025 theme, #UnitedNotDivided, encouraged students to create a 30-second public service announcement educating their peers and community on the seriousness and impact of bullying, especially in digital spaces.

Empowering Students Through Media

The contest served as both a creative outlet and a platform for advocacy.

“We are incredibly proud of our students for earning second place in this year’s Houston Crime Stoppers FBI #UnitedNotDivided video contest,” said Lori Andrade, AVP teacher at Cypress Woods. “This marks our fourth year participating and our fourth year placing in the top three. It is always an honor to see the students’ creativity and hard work recognized, especially on such meaningful topics.”

Students were honored during an awards ceremony held on May 14 at the Crime Stoppers of Houston headquarters. In recognition of their efforts, Cypress Woods students each received a Nintendo Switch, while Jersey Village students were awarded Apple Watches.

“This contest is so valuable for our team because it highlights the important issues each year that need to be addressed for their peers while giving them valuable experience,” said Brandy Milson, AVP teacher at Jersey Village. “We love working with Houston Crime Stoppers and helping spread awareness.”

Both schools’ PSA videos are now featured on the Crime Stoppers of Houston YouTube channel, extending their reach and potential to inspire real conversations about youth safety and peer support.

About Crime Stoppers of Houston

Crime Stoppers of Houston is a nonprofit organization that has been a staple in community safety since its founding in 1980. Originally established to help solve and prevent serious crimes through anonymous tips, the organization has expanded to offer comprehensive educational and safety programming. Their efforts span school safety, domestic violence prevention, internet safety, and anti-human trafficking initiatives.

With over 35,000 solved cases and $9 million in rewards paid, Crime Stoppers of Houston has earned national recognition as one of the most effective and community-engaged branches of the Crime Stoppers movement. Their Safe School Program, launched in 1997, reaches thousands of students each year through education, peer engagement, and youth-led media like the PSA contest.

The #UnitedNotDivided campaign, supported by both Crime Stoppers and the FBI, highlights the importance of student unity and resilience in the face of modern threats like cyberbullying. The campaign’s messaging seeks to combat isolation and divisiveness, instead promoting empathy, peer support, and community building—ideals that the CFISD student videos embody.

Recognizing Tomorrow’s Leaders

As the digital age amplifies both voices and risks, programs like the PSA Video Contest offer teens a unique opportunity to be heard, build media literacy, and create change.

The continued success of Cypress Woods and Jersey Village in this contest reflects not just their technical talents, but their passion for advocacy and their commitment to protecting one another.
