The wait is over for Culver’s fans in Katy. This week, the Wisconsin-based restaurant chain known for its ButterBurgers and rich frozen custard opened its doors at 3133 Peek Road, just north of Morton Road and Grand Parkway. It’s the first Culver’s in Katy and the latest stop in the brand’s steady expansion across Texas.
Locally owned and operated, the new restaurant brings a mix of comfort food, Midwestern values, and a focus on hospitality to one of the region’s fastest-growing suburban corridors.
From Wisconsin Roots to the Heart of Katy
Culver’s began in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin, when Craig and Lea Culver, along with Craig’s parents George and Ruth, opened their first location with a simple idea: serve fresh food and treat every guest like family.
That approach stuck. Today, Culver’s operates more than 1,000 locations across 26 states — including a growing number in Texas. Their signature ButterBurgers®, made with never-frozen beef and seared to order, and Fresh Frozen Custard, a creamier, denser twist on ice cream, are central to the brand’s appeal.

A Local Couple at the Helm
The Katy location is operated by Brian and April Spolnicki, a husband-and-wife team who also own the Culver’s in Fulshear. After a long career in the energy sector, Brian made the shift to small business ownership with a focus on building something close to home.
Construction on the Peek Road restaurant began in March 2025, and while initial state filings anticipated an October opening, the team completed work early — quietly welcoming first guests in late August 2025.
Their approach follows Culver’s long-standing owner-operator model: hands-on, community-based leadership where franchisees are present in the restaurant, not just on paper.
What to Expect on the Menu
Culver’s of Katy offers the full range of signature items and regional favorites. Highlights include:
- ButterBurgers® (single or double, with toppings like cheese, bacon, mushrooms)
- Chicken sandwiches (grilled, crispy, and spicy) and Buffalo tenders
- Hand-battered North Atlantic Cod and Jumbo Shrimp
