Converse Residents to See Simpler Trash and Recycling Pickup Schedule Beginning August 1
For many Converse residents, keeping track of separate trash and recycling pickup days will soon become a thing of the past.
Beginning Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, the City of Converse and Waste Management will transition to a new same-day collection system, allowing residents to place both their garbage and recycling carts at the curb on the same assigned service day each week.
City officials say the change is intended to streamline collection services while creating a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient experience for neighborhoods throughout Converse.
What the New Converse Trash and Recycling Schedule Means for Residents
Under the current system, residents may have separate collection days for garbage and recycling. Starting Aug. 1, both carts will be serviced on a single designated collection day.
The updated schedule is expected to provide several community benefits, including:
- Improved collection consistency
- Fewer collection days within neighborhoods
- Reduced truck traffic on residential streets
- Lower vehicle emissions
- Less noise from collection operations
- Cleaner and less cluttered curbside areas throughout the week
For residents, the biggest advantage may be simplicity. Rather than remembering multiple pickup days, households will only need to remember one weekly collection day for both services.
Find Your New Collection Day
Because collection routes are changing, city officials encourage residents to verify their new service day before Aug. 1.
Residents can search for their address using the City's Interactive Collection Map or review the Garbage and Recycling Street Schedule, which provides a street-by-street listing of assigned collection days.
Once a household confirms its new schedule, both trash and recycling carts should be placed at the curb on the designated day each week.
Supporting a Growing Community
As Converse continues to grow alongside the greater San Antonio region, updates to essential services such as waste collection play an important role in maintaining neighborhood quality of life.
Reducing the number of collection days can help improve traffic flow within residential areas while minimizing the environmental impact associated with additional truck routes. The change also aligns with broader efforts by municipalities across Texas to improve operational efficiency and resident convenience.
For families, homeowners, and neighborhood residents, the adjustment represents a small change in routine that could have a noticeable impact on the appearance and functionality of local streets.
Questions About the New Schedule?
Residents who need assistance locating their new collection day can contact the City of Converse Utility Billing Department at 210-658-1965.
City leaders are encouraging residents to check their collection information before the Aug. 1 implementation date to ensure a smooth transition.
As Converse continues investing in services that support its growing population, officials say community participation will help make the transition successful and keep neighborhoods clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
