Notable Changes from June

July’s activity brought a modest rise in total calls, increasing by 45 from the prior month. While contract checks remained the leading category, they rose from 439 in June to 473 in July. Other month-to-month changes included:

  • Suspicious persons reports doubling from 3 to 6.
  • Welfare checks increasing from 2 to 4.
  • Vacation watches climbing from 6 to 9.
  • The appearance of one criminal mischief case and one solicitor complaint, neither of which were present in June.
  • No stolen vehicles were reported, down from one in June.
  • Property crime remained low, with only one theft and one fraud/forgery case logged.

Community Contact and Patrol Presence

Precinct 5 deputies maintained active engagement with residents through “Meet the Citizen” calls, welfare checks, and routine patrols at schools, parks, and businesses. Neighborhood checks surged to 65 entries, while deputies also performed nine vacation watches—a valuable preventive measure during summer travel months.

The absence of Silver Watch calls in July may indicate fewer reported concerns for elderly or vulnerable residents, though law enforcement encourages ongoing community awareness.

Staying Safe Through Summer and Back-to-School

The constable’s office continues to encourage residents to promptly report suspicious activity and safety concerns. Contract patrols remain a key part of the neighborhood’s security strategy, providing both deterrence and reassurance.

Residents can reach the Harris County Precinct 5 dispatch line at 281-463-6666 for non-emergencies. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1. Certain non-urgent incidents can also be reported online through the Precinct 5 Online Reporting Form here.
