Month-to-Month Trends and Observations

Compared to July, August brought a reduction in overall calls and contract checks (down from 473 to 436), though deputy visibility remained high through patrols across residential and commercial zones.

Increased Areas of Activity
  • Traffic Stops rose significantly to 28 (compared to 11 in July), suggesting heightened enforcement or visibility on local roads.
  • Vacation Watches increased to 16, up from 9, likely driven by end-of-summer travel.
  • Disturbances, including loud noise and fireworks complaints, climbed to 13 (from 6 last month), as neighbors enjoyed the last of the summer evenings.
Stability in Community Safety
  • No assaults were reported in August.
  • Just one stolen vehicle was reported, and two non-violent thefts occurred—both in the same location on Islandwoods Drive.
  • Reports of suspicious persons and vehicles remained low (2 and 4, respectively), with no burglaries of habitations reported.

Community Contact and Patrol Coverage

Constables continued to emphasize preventative and community-centered policing through:

  • 9 “Meet the Citizen” entries, offering a direct line of dialogue between residents and law enforcement.
  • Welfare checks and follow-ups.
  • Targeted presence at parks (10 visits), schools (8), and local businesses (13) to ensure public spaces remain safe and welcoming.

A notable increase in vacation watch checks helped protect unoccupied homes during vacation season.

A Note on Silver Watch Calls

There were no Silver Watch responses in August, which may suggest either a lower number of reports or ongoing well-being among elderly residents. However, residents are encouraged to stay attentive to their neighbors—especially those living alone.

Staying Engaged and Proactive

Precinct 5 encourages Hearthstone residents to report any suspicious activity immediately, as early intervention can often prevent larger issues. Residents can call the Precinct 5 dispatch line at 281-463-6666 for non-emergencies. Urgent matters should always be reported via 9-1-1. Select incidents can also be reported online through the Precinct 5 Online Reporting Form.
