Notable Changes from May

The month-over-month comparison shows a sharp decrease in total calls—from 1,292 in May to 592 in June—largely due to a significant drop in contract check entries (from 1,124 to 439). While this figure may seem striking, it’s important to note that contract patrols, traffic enforcement, and neighborhood visibility remained strong through numerous business checks, vacation watches, and proactive vehicle stops.

Other shifts include:

  • A small decrease in suspicious person reports (from 6 to 3).
  • A rise in fraud/ID-related reports (from 1 to 2).
  • Continued low property crime rates: just one stolen vehicle, one residential theft, and two fraud cases were reported
  • No reports of terroristic threats were logged in June, a drop from May's two reports.

Community Engagement and Preventive Presence

Precinct 5 deputies remained visible and accessible in Hearthstone, highlighted by six “Meet the Citizen” calls and two welfare checks. Patrols continued at schools, parks, and businesses, with officers performing 14 business checks, six vacation watches, and 46 neighborhood checks.

The sole Silver Watch entry also signaled continued attention to the safety of vulnerable residents.

Safety Outlook for Summer

As summer advances, local law enforcement emphasizes the importance of continued communication between residents and deputies. While June’s report showed no significant uptick in major crimes, law enforcement encourages residents to remain vigilant, especially with school breaks and vacation season increasing neighborhood activity.

Residents can report suspicious behavior or non-emergency concerns by calling the Harris County Precinct 5 dispatch line at 281-463-6666. For emergencies, always dial 9-1-1. Non-urgent concerns can also be submitted through the Precinct 5 Online Reporting Form.
