Constable Mark Herman to Host Annual Free Watermelon Giveaway at Atkinson Farms

July 12 2024

Harris County Constable Precinct 4 is gearing up for Constable Mark Herman's annual free watermelon giveaway. Set for Tuesday, July 16, 2024, this event promises to offer the community a cool, sweet, and most importantly, free way to beat the summer heat.

Between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM (or while supplies last) at Atkinson Farms located at 3217 Spring Cypress Road, each family in attendance will receive a free homegrown watermelon courtesy of Constable Herman. This annual tradition, Constable Herman explains, is carried out without any county funds. It's "just another way our Constable invests back into the community we serve," said Harris County Constable Precinct 4.

The much-anticipated watermelons come courtesy of Atkinson Farms. Settled on the outskirts of Spring, the Atkinson family has been farming their land for almost 75 years. Now running as a fourth-generation farm, Atkinson Farms produces a bounty of fresh produce, ranging from over 60 different varieties of vegetables to luscious strawberries and blackberries that are vital for their popular pick-your-own experience.

Constable Herman, his deputies, and the Atkinson Farms family look forward to seeing the community come out on July 16th. The free watermelon giveaway is not only a welcome relief from the summer heat, but it also presents an opportunity to mingle and honor the close ties of the Precinct 4 community while visiting with your local deputies and Constable Mark Herman.
