For residents looking for a locally made gift, a new piece of art for the home or simply a reason to spend an afternoon in Downtown Conroe, the Conroe Art League’s 2026 Fine Art & Craft Show will offer all three in one place.

The indoor show is scheduled for Nov. 17–21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Conroe Art League’s Madeley Fine Art Gallery, located at 127 Simonton St. in Downtown Conroe. Visitors will be able to browse and shop original art, jewelry, home décor and other handmade work created by local and Texas artists.

A holiday-season showcase with a local connection

The Fine Art & Craft Show arrives just as many families begin looking for holiday gifts, giving shoppers an opportunity to buy directly from artists rather than relying only on mass-produced items. For the artists involved, the event also creates another place to meet potential collectors and introduce their work to people who may be stepping into the gallery for the first time.

This is not a new concept for the Conroe Art League. The organization also hosted an indoor Fine Art & Craft Show in November 2025, when participating artists filled the gallery with work for a multi-day exhibition. CAL described that edition as an effort to give artists stronger presentation and greater exposure, continuing a tradition of seasonal shows that place local makers directly in front of the community.

Those special events are part of a much broader exhibition schedule. The Madeley Fine Art Gallery changes out its displays regularly, with monthly member shows forming much of the calendar alongside juried and specialty exhibitions. The league also hosts its annual CAL International show each March; the 2026 edition awarded $5,500 in cash prizes and brought work from outside the immediate area into the Downtown Conroe gallery.

Conroe Art League has built its mission around access to art

The Conroe Art League’s stated mission is to enrich the community through the arts while supporting artists at every level. Its work includes adult and youth classes, workshops, scholarships for continuing art education, juried exhibitions and opportunities for artists to show and sell work throughout the community.

Members can display work at the Madeley Fine Art Gallery and, at various times, in public spaces including local government buildings. The gallery itself operates from the historic Madeley Building in Downtown Conroe, creating a permanent home for exhibits, artist gatherings and educational programming. CAL typically presents new original artwork each month, and its annual calendar also includes shows such as the January 12x12 fundraiser, which helps support awards for Montgomery County high school art students.

That mix of education, exhibitions and sales opportunities has helped make the league more than a traditional gallery. For local artists, it provides a place to learn, show work and connect with other creators. For residents, events such as the Fine Art & Craft Show offer a low-pressure way to experience art while supporting people who make it close to home.
