Commissioner Lesley Briones Announces Completion of Westfield Pines and Westfield Village Flood Resiliency Project
Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones is proud to announce the completion of the Westfield Pines and Westfield Village drainage improvement project. This $6.3 million initiative, led by the Recovery and Resiliency Division (RRD) in collaboration with Northwest Harris County MUD 12, brings vital flood protection to two Katy subdivisions heavily impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Construction, which began in May 2023, involved a range of enhancements, including upsizing the storm sewer system, reconstructing driveways and street sections, adjusting waterlines, sanitary sewer lines, and constructing a new detention pond off Kieth Harrow Boulevard.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this achievement will be held on Thursday, May 9, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at 5203 Mountain Forest Drive, Katy, Texas 77449. Joining Commissioner Briones as speakers will be Dr. Tina Petersen, Executive Director of the Harris County Flood Control District, and Dr. Milton Rahman, Executive Director and County Engineer of the Harris County Engineering Department.
Parking is available along Kieth Harrow Boulevard. This event marks a significant step forward in enhancing flood resiliency and protecting the communities of Westfield Pines and Westfield Village.
