Comal ISD Opens Doors for Students and Job Seekers With Two September Events

Morningside Trails  /
September 18 2026

For families thinking about what comes after high school, and adults considering what might come next in their own careers, Comal ISD has two important dates on the calendar this week.

The fast-growing school district will host its Fall Job Fair on Monday, Sept. 21, followed two days later by its annual College, Career and Military Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Together, the events put a spotlight on opportunities at both ends of the education pipeline, from people interested in joining the district workforce to students beginning to map out life after graduation.

For a district serving communities across Comal County and portions of Bexar, Guadalupe, Hays and Kendall counties, both events also reflect the realities of growth. Comal ISD currently serves more than 29,900 students across 36 campuses and continues to recruit employees while helping students prepare for college, skilled trades, careers and military service.

Comal ISD Fall Job Fair set for Sept. 21 in New Braunfels

The first event is aimed at prospective employees.

Comal ISD's Fall Job Fair will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the district's Support Services Building, 1404 IH-35 North in New Braunfels. The district is encouraging anyone interested in employment with Comal ISD to attend.

The hiring event is not limited to classroom teachers.

Comal ISD says it is seeking certified special education and multilingual teachers, along with applicants for several non-certified positions. Current staffing needs include after-school childcare, child nutrition, custodial, paraprofessional and transportation and bus driver positions.

That range could make the Comal ISD job fair useful for people with very different backgrounds, including experienced educators, people considering a move into public education and residents looking for support or operational roles within a school district.

Comal ISD serves 10 communities and operates campuses throughout Bulverde, Canyon Lake, Garden Ridge, New Braunfels, the northern San Antonio area, Sattler, Smithson Valley, Spring Branch and Startzville. The district describes itself as a fast-growing system spanning approximately 589 square miles.

Prospective applicants can also review current Comal ISD job openings through the district's employment website before attending the event.

College, Career and Military Fair brings about 77 recruiters to Davenport High School

Just two days later, the focus shifts from hiring today's workforce to helping students think about tomorrow's.

Comal ISD will host its annual College, Career and Military Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Davenport High School. The event is open to Comal ISD students in grades 8 through 12 and their parents.

Approximately 77 recruiters representing colleges, businesses, trade schools and military branches are expected to attend, giving students a chance to ask questions and compare several different post-graduation options in one place.

For an eighth grader, that conversation may simply be a first introduction to what is possible. For juniors and seniors, it could mean narrowing down colleges, discovering a technical training program, learning about a career field or getting firsthand information about military service.

The college lineup includes institutions from across Texas and beyond, with representatives scheduled from schools such as Texas A&M University, Texas State University, Texas Tech University, The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Trinity University, St. Mary's University, Texas State Technical College, Oklahoma State University, University of Arkansas and University of Houston, among many others.

Students interested in careers and skilled trades will have another set of options to explore. Participating organizations are expected to include Arclabs Welding School, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute, Bexar County Sheriff's Office, City of New Braunfels, Comal County Public Health Department, Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Texas Workforce Commission, Universal Technical Institute and Waste Management.

Military-related participants listed by the district include the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, United States Coast Guard, Texas Army National Guard, U.S. Naval Academy and The Citadel, among others.

Why eighth graders are included

The invitation to students beginning in eighth grade gives families an opportunity to start these conversations well before senior year.

College admissions, career and technical education, military pathways and workforce training can require different high school coursework, preparation and timelines. Seeing those choices earlier can help students begin asking better questions about which classes, certifications and extracurricular opportunities could support the future they have in mind.

For parents, the Comal ISD College, Career and Military Fair also offers a chance to gather information directly from representatives rather than trying to piece together dozens of options independently.

Two events, one focus on what comes next

Although the Sept. 21 job fair and Sept. 23 student fair serve different audiences, both are centered on opportunity.

One may help a local resident find a new job close to home. The other may introduce a student to a university, apprenticeship, trade school, employer or military pathway they had never considered before.

In a school district stretching across several rapidly growing Hill Country and San Antonio-area communities, those connections can have an impact well beyond a single evening.
