For Tomball-area residents tackling a crowded closet, overflowing garage or long-overdue storage cleanup, those gently used belongings may be worth more to the community than the space they are taking up at home.

Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries, better known locally as TEAM, is encouraging residents to donate usable clothing, furniture, household goods and other items to TEAM Resale, its downtown Tomball thrift and resale shop. The donated merchandise is sold to shoppers, with 100% of the proceeds supporting TEAM’s food pantry, assistance programs and the operating costs that allow the nonprofit to continue helping local families.

It creates a simple cycle of local support: one family clears out something it no longer needs, another resident finds an affordable item at the resale shop, and the money stays in the Tomball community helping neighbors who may be struggling with groceries, rent, utilities or medical expenses.

More Than a Tomball Resale Shop

TEAM is a volunteer-driven nonprofit serving individuals and families facing financial hardship in the Tomball area. Its Assistance Ministry provides help with needs that can become overwhelming when household finances are stretched, including food and toiletries, rent and utilities, medical, dental and vision care, clothing and household items. TEAM also offers job counseling and budget workshops aimed at helping families move toward greater financial independence.

Generally, TEAM serves qualified low-income residents who live in Tomball ZIP codes 77375 or 77377, live within the Tomball Independent School District attendance area, or belong to one of TEAM’s member churches.

That broader mission is what gives an ordinary donation of clothes, dishes or furniture a different purpose at TEAM Resale. Revenue from the store helps pay the costs of operating the ministry, allowing financial donations to be directed toward assistance for people who need help with essentials.

What Can Residents Donate to TEAM Resale?

TEAM accepts a wide variety of gently used items that are clean, complete and suitable for resale. Current needs include clothing, furniture, artwork and home décor, baby gear, linens, books, CDs, DVDs and records, kitchenware, household goods, sporting equipment, electronics and small appliances. The organization also accepts certain medical equipment, including wheelchairs, walkers, bath chairs, canes, braces and walking boots.

Residents are encouraged to check TEAM’s current donation list before loading the car, since some items cannot be accepted because of safety concerns, age restrictions, resale limitations or disposal costs. TEAM does not accept mattresses or box springs, pianos and organs, propane tanks, hospital beds, wet or damaged merchandise and certain older baby equipment, among other items. Flat-screen televisions must generally be less than 10 years old.

The organization specifically asks residents not to leave donations outside after hours. Items that are broken, damaged or otherwise unsuitable for resale can create disposal expenses rather than generating money for the ministry.

Where and When to Donate in Tomball

TEAM Resale is located at 300 W. Main Street in downtown Tomball.

As of June 2, 2026, resale donations are accepted Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until the donation area reaches capacity. Heavy furniture is accepted Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Staff members and volunteers are available during donation hours to help unload vehicles. Donations are dropped off at the double doors in the alley behind the building.

Residents with larger furniture may also request a pickup. Because storage space is limited, TEAM says it can only pick up furniture that is in good condition and suitable for resale.

The TEAM Resale Shop itself is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving bargain hunters another way to support the organization simply by shopping locally. The approximately 10,000-square-foot store carries clothing, furniture, home décor, kitchenware, books, baby items, sporting goods and other donated merchandise.

Residents Can Help TEAM in More Ways Than One

Clearing out the house is only one way Tomball residents can support TEAM.

The nonprofit relies heavily on volunteers, with opportunities ranging from sorting food donations and preparing grocery orders to processing resale merchandise, arranging displays, helping customers and assisting with administrative work. Volunteers can also contribute skills in marketing, fundraising, social media, event planning, graphic design, technology and building maintenance. Some of those administrative roles offer flexible or work-from-home opportunities.

Residents can also make one-time or recurring financial contributions directly to TEAM. Donations may be directed toward the organization’s general fund, Assistance Ministry and Food Pantry, or fundraising efforts, and TEAM provides an option for donors whose employers offer matching-gift programs.

Food donations provide another practical way to help. TEAM currently accepts Food Pantry donations on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For families living paycheck to paycheck, an unexpected medical bill, reduced work hours or another sudden expense can quickly create difficult choices between groceries, utilities and other basic necessities. TEAM’s model gives neighbors several ways to help fill those gaps — donating something from home, shopping the resale store, volunteering a few hours or making a financial contribution.

For Tomball residents already planning a fall cleanup, that means the box headed out of the closet may not need to head to the trash. In the right condition, it could find a new home while helping another family close to home.
