City of Lytle Seeks Nominations for 2026 Annual Citizenship Awards Honoring Local Volunteers and Community Leaders

City of Lytle Seeks Nominations for 2026 Annual Citizenship Awards Honoring Local Volunteers and Community Leaders

Rosewood Atascosa Estates  /
October 07 2026

Some of Lytle's most meaningful contributions come from people who rarely ask for recognition. They are the neighbors who lend a helping hand, the volunteers who give their time and the individuals who quietly work to make their hometown a better place.

Now, the City of Lytle is accepting nominations for its 2026 Annual Citizenship Awards, giving community members an opportunity to recognize those whose kindness, dedication and service have made a lasting difference.

With an October 31 nomination deadline approaching, residents are encouraged to think about the people who consistently go above and beyond for others, whether through years of volunteer service, helping neighbors in need or finding ways to strengthen the community.

Who Can Be Nominated for the Lytle Annual Citizenship Awards?

The City of Lytle Annual Citizenship Awards recognize individuals and groups whose contributions improve the quality of life for local residents.

Eligible nominees must be residents of Lytle, residents of the city's Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ), or groups located within the city.

Nominees must demonstrate at least two of the following qualities:

  • Strive to make a positive impact in the community.
  • Enhance the community and the lives of its citizens.
  • Address or fulfill a community need or concern.

The awards recognize both young people and adults, ensuring that community service is celebrated across generations.

Annual award categories include:

  • Youth Citizenship Award: Recognizing a young person age 18 or younger.
  • Adult Citizenship Award: Honoring an individual age 19 or older.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Recognizing an individual with at least 10 years of demonstrated cumulative service.

The city may also recognize groups for their contributions and present honorable mentions to individuals or groups outside Lytle's ETJ.

How to Nominate Someone for the 2026 Lytle Citizenship Awards

Nominations opened October 1 and must be received by Saturday, October 31, 2026. Mailed nomination forms must be postmarked by that date.

Anyone submitting a nomination should provide detailed information about the nominee's contributions, including how their efforts have benefited the Lytle community. Supporting materials such as photographs, videos and examples of volunteer work are welcome.

Importantly, the person submitting the nomination does not have to live in Lytle, allowing friends, family members and others familiar with a nominee's service to participate.

Completed nominations can be submitted through the following methods:

  • Online: City of Lytle Annual Citizenship Awards
  • Email: paola.rios@lytletx.org
  • In person: City of Lytle, 14916 Main Street, Lytle, TX 78052
  • By mail: City of Lytle, c/o City Secretary, P.O. Box 743, Lytle, TX 78052

All application materials become the property of the City of Lytle and will not be returned.

Recognizing the People Who Make Lytle a Better Place

For a community like Lytle, volunteerism is about more than organized events or official positions. It can mean mentoring a young person, helping a struggling family, supporting a local organization or spending years addressing a need that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The Annual Citizenship Awards offer an opportunity to recognize that commitment and remind residents that individual efforts can have a meaningful impact on the entire community.

For those who know someone deserving of recognition, the next step is simple: gather the details of their contributions and submit a nomination before October 31.

Sometimes, the people who do the most for their neighbors are the least likely to nominate themselves. This is an opportunity for the community to thank them.
