Cinco Ranch Southwest Otters Open 2026 Registration for Katy Youth Summer Swim Team at Rosewood Pool

March 09 2026

With summer on the horizon, families across the Cinco Ranch II community in Katy are beginning to prepare for a favorite neighborhood tradition — the return of the Cinco Ranch Southwest Otters swim team.

Registration for the 2026 summer swim season is opening soon, giving local children ages 4 through 18 an opportunity to stay active, build confidence in the water and connect with friends and neighbors throughout the summer months. Practices and home swim meets for the Otters take place at Rosewood Pool, located at 26418 Cinco Terrace Drive in Katy, a familiar gathering place for families in the community.

For many local residents, the Otters represent more than a youth sports program. The summer league team brings together families from across Cinco Ranch and surrounding Katy neighborhoods for a season centered around teamwork, skill development and community pride.

A Community Swim Team Connected Through WHALe

The Cinco Ranch Southwest Otters are part of the West Houston Aquatic League (WHALe), a long-standing network of neighborhood swim teams that compete throughout the greater Houston area during the summer months.

Unlike year-round competitive swim clubs, WHALe teams emphasize community participation, sportsmanship and fun, allowing swimmers of varying experience levels to participate. The Otters team is guided by dedicated volunteer leadership and experienced coaches, with many parents helping organize meets, time races and support team activities.

Through the program, children not only learn swimming techniques but also develop water safety awareness, discipline and teamwork skills that can benefit them long after the season ends.

2026 Registration Dates for the Otters Swim Team

Families interested in joining the Otters for the upcoming season should take note of the team’s registration timeline:

  • February 28, 2026: Registration opens for returning swimmers
  • March 7, 2026: Registration opens for WHALe league transfer swimmers
  • March 21, 2026: Registration opens for new swimmers

The team welcomes Cinco Ranch II residents as well as swimmers from nearby Katy-area neighborhoods, offering a chance for new families to join the Otters community.

More Than Just Swimming

Beyond learning strokes and racing across the pool, the Otters program provides something many parents value just as much: a sense of belonging within the neighborhood.

Children build friendships through daily practices and weekend swim meets, while parents often connect with other families while volunteering, cheering from the stands or helping run events. For many participants, the Otters become a defining part of their childhood summers in Cinco Ranch.

Swimming also provides a healthy way for kids to stay active during the hot Katy summer months, offering both physical activity and a safe, supervised environment where children can build confidence in the water.

How to Register

As another summer approaches in Cinco Ranch and Katy, the Otters are once again preparing to bring neighbors together for a season filled with races, friendships and plenty of time in the pool.
