Cinco Ranch II to Host Blood Drive with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center on June 15th
Cinco Ranch II residents are invited to make a lifesaving impact this summer by participating in a neighborhood blood drive on Sunday, June 15, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Lake House (25202 Springwood Lake Drive). The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be on-site with a mobile Donor Coach, making it convenient for locals to donate close to home.
This community blood drive is part of a larger summer initiative from the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, which is offering a free $25 eGift Card to all successful donors between June 1 and July 31, 2025, as a thank-you for supporting hospital patients during the most critical donation season of the year.
Residents can reserve their time slot online at the official sign-up page: SIGN UP HERE
Why Your Blood Donation Matters
The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center (GCRBC), headquartered in Houston, supplies blood and blood components to more than 170 hospitals and healthcare institutions across 26 Texas counties. On average, the Center must collect 1,000 donations daily to meet regional needs.
“Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood,” according to the American Red Cross. Yet, only about 3% of eligible Americans donate blood each year. That gap becomes especially urgent in the summer months, when donations typically drop due to vacations and school closures.
Blood cannot be manufactured; it must come from donors. One donation can save up to three lives, making each pint a powerful contribution to local health care systems. “Donating blood is one of the simplest yet most impactful things someone can do,” states GCRBC’s website. “Whether it's trauma victims, cancer patients, or those undergoing surgery, your blood can give them a second chance.”

What to Expect Inside the Donor Coach — and How to Prepare
If you’ve never donated blood inside a mobile Donor Coach before, you’re not alone—but rest assured, the process is simple, safe, and designed with comfort in mind.
The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center’s Donor Coaches are state-of-the-art mobile units equipped with everything needed to collect and store blood safely. Upon arrival, donors will be greeted by friendly staff and guided through a quick registration and screening process, which includes checking your temperature, blood pressure, and hemoglobin levels to ensure you're eligible to donate.
Once cleared, you’ll be invited to recline in a donation chair, where the actual blood draw takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The entire visit—from check-in to post-donation refreshments—typically takes less than an hour. After giving, you’ll relax for a few minutes and enjoy a light snack to help your body recover.
Before the Blood Drive: Tips to Be Donation-Ready
To make sure your donation goes smoothly, the Blood Center offers these helpful tips:
-
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your donation. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages, which can lead to dehydration.
-
Eat a Healthy Meal: Have a balanced meal that includes iron-rich foods such as spinach, red meat, beans, or fortified cereals before donating.
-
Bring ID: A valid photo ID is required at check-in.
-
Wear Comfortable Clothing: Choose clothing with sleeves that can easily be rolled up above the elbow.
-
Get Plenty of Rest: Aim for a good night’s sleep before your appointment to help your body function at its best.
Whether you’re a first-time donor or a seasoned giver, the team at Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center is there to ensure a smooth, positive experience. And with every pint you give, you’re helping save up to three lives in your community.
A Gift That Gives Back
Participants in the Cinco Ranch II blood drive won’t just walk away with a good feeling—they’ll also receive a $25 gift card for the Donor Rewards Store, which includes a selection of items to choose from. For those who donate anywhere with GCRBC through July 31, a separate $25 eGift Card of their choice will also be sent via email, allowing donors to double the rewards while helping patients in need.
Whether you’re a first-time donor or a long-time supporter, this is a chance to give back in a meaningful way. Residents are encouraged to sign up in advance and bring a photo ID on the day of the event. Walk-ins will be welcomed as space allows.
