Chapel Run Residents: Here’s What You Can — and Can’t — Recycle in Conroe

May 14 2026

For many Chapel Run residents, Wednesday is more than just trash day — it is part of the weekly rhythm that helps keep the neighborhood clean, organized, and welcoming for families and homeowners alike. But with changing recycling habits and common misconceptions about what belongs in the yellow cart, many residents may not realize that putting the wrong items out for pickup can actually delay collection service for the entire cart.

While most residents know the basics, there are several lesser-known guidelines that can help prevent missed pickups, overflowing carts, and contamination in the recycling stream. For growing communities like Chapel Run, proper recycling and waste collection also plays a larger role in neighborhood appearance, environmental responsibility, and maintaining reliable city services for everyone.

How Trash and Recycling Pickup Works in Chapel Run

The City of Conroe provides garbage and recycling service for Chapel Run through Frontier Waste Solutions, and following a few simple guidelines can help avoid missed pickups, overflowing carts, and recycling contamination.

One of the biggest things residents should know? Recyclables should not be bagged.

Items inside the yellow recycling cart should be placed loose in the container so they can be properly sorted and processed. Plastic bags can interfere with recycling equipment and may even cause an entire load to be rejected.

Residents are also encouraged to make sure recyclable items are clean and dry before placing them in the cart.

What Can Go in the Recycling Cart?

Accepted recyclable items include:

  • Plastic bottles and jugs
  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Clean food containers
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Cartons and plastic tubs

What Should Stay Out?

Some common household items cannot be recycled through curbside service, including:

  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Electronics and batteries
  • Greasy pizza boxes
  • Food waste and liquids

If non-approved items are placed inside the cart, collection service could be delayed until the next pickup day.

A Few Helpful Trash Day Reminders

Trash and recycling collection in Chapel Run takes place every Wednesday, and carts should be at the curb no later than 6:30 a.m.

Residents can also help collection crews by:

  • Leaving at least four feet of space around carts
  • Facing cart lids toward the street
  • Avoiding parking vehicles too close to carts
  • Keeping cart lids fully closed

For larger items like furniture or appliances, Chapel Run residents also have access to monthly bulk pickup service through the city, though advance scheduling is required.

Holiday schedules can also affect pickup service. Collections are not made on New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day, and service shifts by one day for the remainder of the week when those holidays occur.

Keeping Chapel Run Clean Together

While trash and recycling rules may seem small, they make a noticeable difference in keeping Chapel Run clean, organized, and running efficiently for everyone in the neighborhood.
