CFISD Theatre Arts Students Shine at Texas Thespian Festival

More than 140 CFISD high school theatre arts students received superior ratings at the 2023 Texas Thespian Festival, held Nov. 16-19 in Grapevine.

Students receiving a superior rating qualified for the national competition, sponsored by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), scheduled for June 23-28 at Indiana University—Bloomington.

The following technical theatre students earned a superior rating, a perfect score and were featured in the closing ceremony as mainstage finalists:

In addition to the superior ratings, some individuals and troupes received other honors.

Bridgeland High School won first place in the state for most donations collected for the “Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat” canned food drive.

Cypress Creek High School students Gage Campbell, Daniel Gonzalez and Jamar Williams were named All-Star Troupe Display winners.

Cypress Ranch High School senior Gabriella Silva was named Improv Challenge All-Star.

Cy-Fair High School senior James Wilkinson was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from Texas Thespians. Cypress Woods High School senior Megan Janger and Langham Creek High School senior Kenna Edwards were both awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Texas Thespians.
