CFISD Names New Principal for Cypress Ridge High School

Dr. Abe Lozano, principal at Watkins Middle School, was named the new principal at Cypress Ridge High School on July 10. Dr. Lozano replaces Stephanie Meshell, who was named the principal at Spring Woods High School in Spring Branch ISD.

Dr. Lozano has 16 years of experience in education, all in CFISD. A graduate of Cypress Springs High School, Dr. Lozano began his career as a U.S. History teacher and coach at Kahla Middle School, serving in that role for six years before being name an assistant principal at Kahla in 2013. He then moved to Cypress Springs as an assistant principal for one year before being named an assistant principal on the inaugural staff at Cypress Park High School in 2016.

Dr. Lozano was named the principal at Holbrook Elementary School in February 2018 and was then named the principal at Watkins in December 2019.

In addition, Dr. Lozano has served as a principal mentor, has completed the CFISD Aspiring Principal Institute and has served on various district committees.

Dr. Lozano earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and his Master of Educational Administration from Sam Houston State University. He earned his Doctor of Education in Professional Leadership from the University of Houston.

“I’m honored to be selected as the next principal of Cypress Ridge High School,” Dr. Lozano said. “I feel so blessed to be joining Ram Nation and I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with such an outstanding staff and student body! We will be working together to serve our Cypress Ridge community and continue building the legacy of Cypress Ridge High School. All hail the white, green and blue of the Cypress Ridge Rams!”
