Caution Advised on Mason Creek Trail: Large Sinkhole Found Near Rustic Knolls in Nottingham Country
Residents who frequent the Mason Creek Hike & Bike Trail in Nottingham Country should be aware of a newly discovered sinkhole along the path. The 15-foot deep, 12-foot wide sinkhole was reported near the 1500 block of Rustic Knolls and Hoveden, within the Barker Reservoir watershed.
Safety Measures in Place
Deputies from Harris County Constable Precinct 5 responded to the scene and secured the area with cones to prevent pedestrians from getting too close. Maintenance crews from the Office of Commissioner Lesley Briones, Precinct 4, and the Harris County Flood Control District have been notified and are working on plans for repairs.
For now, residents are urged to use caution when walking, running, or biking near this section of the trail. If possible, consider using an alternate route to avoid the hazard.

About the Barker Reservoir Watershed
The Barker Reservoir watershed, which includes Mason Creek and Upper Buffalo Bayou, was designed to help control flooding in the region. Constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1945, the reservoir plays a key role in preventing flooding along Buffalo Bayou and protecting downtown Houston. The watershed covers approximately 126 square miles across Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller counties, serving a population of nearly 89,000 residents in Harris County alone.
