Castroville Pool Welcomes Families for Summer Fun While Community Center Construction Continues

June 01 2026

As another South Texas summer settles into Castroville, the Castroville Pool is once again serving as a gathering place for families, fitness enthusiasts, and residents looking to beat the heat while staying active close to home.

Located at 816 Alsace Avenue in Castroville, the community pool offers a variety of programs designed for all ages, from open swim sessions and fitness swimming to swim lessons and family-focused activities. While construction on the new Castroville Community Center continues nearby, city officials say pool programs are currently operating as scheduled and remain available for residents throughout the season.

For many families, community pools provide more than just a way to cool off. They create opportunities for recreation, physical activity, water safety education, and social connection during the summer months. The Castroville Pool's mission reflects that goal by providing a safe, welcoming environment where residents and visitors can enjoy aquatic activities while building community relationships.

A Summer Destination for Recreation and Fitness

The Castroville Pool offers several programs tailored to different interests and age groups.

Fitness Swim sessions are designed for residents focused on exercise, endurance, and staying active in the water. Open Swim provides recreational swimming opportunities for individuals and families throughout the week, while Public Lessons help children and adults develop water safety and swimming skills.

The facility also hosts Family Night events, creating dedicated opportunities for families to spend quality time together in a relaxed setting.

The pool's current operating schedule includes weekend and weekday programming, with fitness swimming, lessons, and open swim opportunities available throughout the week.

Construction Updates and Potential Program Disruptions

The City of Castroville is reminding residents that ongoing construction of the new Community Center could create occasional disruptions to swim programs.

According to the Parks & Recreation Department, all swim programs are currently proceeding as scheduled. However, construction activities may require future adjustments.

Officials stated they are working to minimize impacts and will provide updates if any schedule changes become necessary.

Residents with questions regarding programming or construction-related impacts can contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 830-931-0033 or email Pool@castrovilletx.gov

Summer Pool Fees and Pass Options

The Castroville Pool offers several admission and membership options designed to accommodate both occasional visitors and frequent swimmers.

Summer daily admission is $5 per person, while winter admission is $8 per person.

Season pass options include:

  • Single Pass: $100
  • Family Pass (up to four family members): $150
  • Fitness Pass (May through September): $150
  • Combo Pass: $175

Residents can also reserve the pool pavilion for gatherings at $35 per hour plus daily admission fees, while private pool parties are available for $125 per hour with a two-hour minimum reservation.

Why Community Pools Matter

Community pools often play an important role in promoting public health and water safety. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), swimming provides a low-impact form of exercise that can improve cardiovascular health, strengthen muscles, and support overall wellness for people of all ages.

For growing communities like Castroville, recreational amenities such as public pools also help strengthen neighborhood connections by providing accessible places for residents to gather, especially during the summer months when outdoor activities are a central part of family life.

As construction progresses on the new Community Center, city leaders continue to emphasize that recreational programming remains a priority, ensuring residents have opportunities to stay active and engaged while the community's facilities continue to expand.

What Residents Should Know

Residents planning to visit the Castroville Pool this summer are encouraged to monitor city communications for any updates related to construction impacts. For now, programs remain active, and the pool continues to provide a place where families can enjoy recreation, fitness, and community connection throughout the season.

For additional information about pool schedules, lessons, memberships, or facility reservations, residents can contact the Castroville Parks & Recreation Department directly.
