Captain Woytek Appointed as City of Katy’s New Chief of Police
At the Katy City Council meeting held on the evening of December 9, 2024, Captain Woytek was officially appointed as the Chief of Police for the City of Katy, marking a significant milestone in his 30-year career with the Katy Police Department. Chief Woytek’s appointment was celebrated by a crowd of family, friends, fellow officers, former police chiefs, and local officials, all of whom gathered to honor the long-serving law enforcement officer as he stepped into his new role.
A Katy native, Chief Woytek’s law enforcement journey began in 1994 when he joined the Katy Police Department as a patrolman. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks, serving in a variety of roles, including K9 handler and patrol sergeant, before rising to the position of patrol captain. His promotion to Chief of Police follows a distinguished career dedicated to serving and protecting the Katy community.
In his new position, Chief Woytek will be tasked with overseeing all operations of the Katy Police Department, which serves a rapidly growing population. His deep knowledge of the department and its operations, paired with his extensive experience, have earned him the respect and admiration of both his peers and the community.

Chief Woytek’s leadership is backed by his education and training, including his graduation from the FBI National Academy in 2010, where he specialized in police management and leadership. This experience, combined with his years of on-the-ground service, has equipped him to lead the department with expertise and vision.
"Tonight is not only a celebration of my appointment, but also a recognition of the tremendous support I’ve received from the people of Katy and the amazing officers I’ve had the honor of working with," Chief Woytek said during his acceptance speech.
