Call for Artists: Showcase Your Talent at the Prestigious Bayou City Art Festival 2024

April 03 2024

Artists across the Greater Houston Area looking to make their mark on the world stage are being offered an exciting opportunity. Applications have been opened for the prestigious Bayou City Art Festival, taking place from October 11-13, 2024, in Memorial Park.

Since its initial launch as the Westheimer Art Festival, Bayou City Art Festival has grown to be recognized as one of the premier outdoor art showcases in the United States, happening twice yearly. To date, the festival has been a platform for more than 20,000 artists from all corners of the globe. The festival, funded by corporate sponsorships, grants from the City of Houston, private contributors, and volunteer assistance has raised almost $4 million for local nonprofit programs.

Going beyond the typical art festival, Bayou City Art Festival has developed a reputation not only as a place to purchase world-class art, but also as a vibrant community event. Patrons can indulge in live music, food, beverages, entertainment, and an active imagination zone, in addition to the art showcase. An exclusive VIP Hospitality Lounge adds an extra touch of sophistication to the affair.

Artists wishing to participate have until midnight CST on Sunday, June 16, 2024, to submit their applications. Over 1,000 creatives from 19 different disciplines, as far afield as Canada, Mexico, and South America, are expected to compete for the highly coveted 300 exhibition spots available.

For emerging artists who have participated in two or fewer juried art festivals, there is the opportunity to apply for the 'Emerge: Artists on the Rise' program. Successful applicants to this program will receive a booth in a dedicated area and are permitted to submit a fifth image of their work in lieu of a booth image.

A panel of five to seven jurors, made up of artists, collectors, educators, curators, and industry professionals, will be in charge of the selection process. Cash prizes are up for grabs for 'Best in Show,' second and third place, and there is a 'Best Booth' award. Winners enjoy jury-exempt status for two years and priority booth placement.

Artists interested in applying are required to submit five images and an application fee of $50 by the deadline. Notifications of successful applications will be sent out by July 8, 2024.
