Bridgeland, Cy-Woods Students Place at HOSA International Conference

Students from Bridgeland and Cypress Woods high schools earned top awards at the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) International Leadership Conference, held June 22-26 at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn. 

Bridgeland seniors Avanish Shilpi, Rithvik Katikaneni, Shreyan Katta and Rohil Watwe placed first in community awareness. Bridgeland seniors Avneet Deol and Bhavneet Chutani, along with graduates Puneet Pahl, Sarvani Nookala and Dathri Gundappa took home third in public service announcement.

Leadership Conference, held June 22-26 at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn. 

 

“Qualifying for this international competition is such an incredible accomplishment, and to have our Bridgeland students win their events is just outstanding,” said Denise Bishop, Bridgeland HOSA sponsor. “Our students have dedicated themselves all year and I am incredibly proud of their accomplishments. They are great examples of students exemplifying our school motto, ‘Be Your Bridgeland Best!’”

Cypress Woods graduate Natalie Cornejo placed 10th in medical spelling.

 “We are so proud of Natalie for her top-10 finish at the HOSA International Conference in medical spelling,” said Laura Anderson, Cypress Woods HOSA sponsor. “Her hard work and dedication are unmatched. Natalie could always be found with her medical dictionary studying during every spare second. Congratulations again to Natalie! We are so proud of you.”

HOSA is an extracurricular program that is designed to develop future health care leaders through student lead activities. Through HOSA, students can compete in regional, state and international competitions in different categories. The 2022 international conference featured approximately 10,600 students representing every state in the United States and several countries from around the world.
