Books-A-Million to Open New Store in Richmond at Shops at Bella Terra by Late Summer 2025
National book retail chain Books-A-Million is bringing a new chapter to Fort Bend County with the announcement of a new location in Richmond, set to open in the Shops at Bella Terra this summer. The store will be located at 5466 W Grand Parkway S, near the Lakes of Bella Terra community, and is expected to be completed by August 29, 2025.
The new 12,000-square-foot retail space will undergo a $742,730 tenant build-out beginning June 20, 2025, with renovations including new lighting, fixtures, finishes, and exterior signage. The site adds another key location to Books-A-Million’s growing presence in the Greater Houston area, joining its existing Katy store at Katy Mills Mall.
Founded in 1917 in Florence, Alabama, Books-A-Million (often referred to as BAM) has evolved from a street-corner newsstand into the second largest book retailer in the United States. The company currently operates over 260 stores across 32 states and the District of Columbia, offering a wide selection of books, magazines, collectible supplies, toys, games, and gifts.

A Bookstore Experience for Readers and Families in Richmond
With its spacious layout and product variety, the Richmond Books-A-Million location will serve as a hub for book lovers, students, educators, and families throughout the area. The store is expected to carry both bestselling titles and bargain books, as well as niche sections like BAM’s popular “Faithpoint” category, which features Christian literature and devotionals. Many Books-A-Million stores also include the Joe Muggs® Café, offering gourmet coffee, espresso, teas, and desserts in a cozy atmosphere ideal for reading and relaxation.
Residents near Lakes of Bella Terra, Aliana, and Long Meadow Farms will now have easier access to a large-format bookstore that also supports educational growth and leisure reading. With the steady population growth in Richmond and neighboring Fulshear and Katy, the arrival of Books-A-Million addresses a growing demand for brick-and-mortar book retail experiences in the area.
Books-A-Million’s expansion reflects broader retail development trends in Fort Bend County, where high-traffic corridors like the West Grand Parkway continue to attract lifestyle brands and community-oriented businesses.

National Reach with Local Appeal
Books-A-Million’s impact stretches beyond retail. The company also operates American Wholesale Book Company, a distribution subsidiary, and Book$mart Inc., a bargain book distributor. Its e-commerce platform, BOOKSAMILLION.COM, has served online shoppers since 1998, offering thousands of book titles, gifts, and collectibles.
In addition to its vast selection, BAM stores are often viewed as community anchors—places where readers can discover new authors, attend events, or find resources for school and work. The new Richmond location aims to uphold that tradition, giving Fort Bend County readers a welcoming destination for book shopping, coffee breaks, and cultural connection.
