A few minutes spent donating blood could make a meaningful difference for someone who needs it. The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a community blood drive Monday, Sept. 28, giving local residents an opportunity to help replenish the region’s blood supply close to home.

The blood drive will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office, located at 1108 Campbell in Jourdanton. South Texas Blood & Tissue is partnering on the event.

A Simple Way to Help South Texas Patients

Blood donations support patients facing emergencies, surgeries and other medical needs across South Texas. For Atascosa County residents who have been looking for a practical way to help their neighbors, Monday’s drive offers an opportunity without requiring a trip into San Antonio.

Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance through the Sheriff’s Office blood drive flyer or by calling South Texas Blood & Tissue at 210-731-5590. Questions about blood donation eligibility can also be directed to South Texas Blood & Tissue at 210-731-5590.

There is a small thank-you waiting for participants, too. Those who donate will receive an exclusive South Texas Blood & Tissue T-shirt, while supplies and eligibility requirements apply.

What Donors Should Know Before Monday

Individuals who are 16 years old may be eligible to donate with parental consent. Other eligibility requirements can vary, so prospective donors with questions are encouraged to check with South Texas Blood & Tissue before their appointment.

For a community accustomed to coming together when a neighbor needs help, the blood drive provides a straightforward way to do exactly that. Residents interested in participating can schedule through South Texas Blood & Tissue and arrive at the Jourdanton office during the Sept. 28 event.
