Art in the Bend Returns to Richmond: A Celebration of Local Art, Community, and Canine Charm on Morton Street

April 15 2025

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the heart of Fort Bend County will come alive as Morton Street transforms into a vibrant celebration of local art, live performances, and family-friendly fun during Art in the Bend, Richmond's premier art festival. From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, this immersive event offers residents and visitors free admission to a full day to explore visual arts, culinary delights, handmade crafts, and lively entertainment—all in the charming, historic setting of Downtown Richmond, Texas.

A Festival for All Ages and Interests

Art in the Bend is more than just a traditional art market—it's a multifaceted cultural experience designed to unite the community while showcasing the talent and creativity of Fort Bend County and beyond. Hosted by the Historic Richmond Association and sponsored by City of Richmond and Development Corporation of Richmond, the event celebrates the city’s commitment to supporting local businesses and preserving cultural heritage through educational and civic programming.

Festivalgoers can expect a dynamic lineup of artists and vendors, with locally owned businesses and creators such as Camila’s Sweets & Bites, Unique Stained Glass, ART with Albright, and Exotic Plants & Treasures offering everything from homemade desserts to custom decor. Food trucks like Cousins Maine Lobster and Taco Salsa promise flavorful bites, while beverage aficionados can unwind with offerings from Unwine’d Wine and Spirits.

Community Favorites: Bark in the Park and Student Art Exhibit

Among the festival’s most anticipated events is the annual Bark in the Park—a delight for dog lovers and families alike. Beginning at 9:00 AM, the dog parade and costume contest invite furry companions to strut their stuff for prizes in categories like Top Dog, Best Costume, Best Tricks, and Most Beautiful. The $10 registration fee supports local causes, and participants can register online at the Historic Richmond website.

Art lovers will also enjoy the LCISD Student Art Exhibition and Juried Art Show, featuring elementary through high school student work displayed at Morton Lodge from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Awards will be presented at 2:00 PM on the Main Stage, providing a meaningful spotlight on young, emerging talent in the region.

Entertainment and Community Art

Live music and local performance groups will keep the energy high throughout the day. Headliner Nowhere But Up performs from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by community showcases from groups such as the Austin Cosmic Choir, Adolphus Elementary Steel Pan Band, and the Leaping Leopards MYE Cheer Club.
