February 27 2025

The much-anticipated Annual Lenten Fish Fest is back, promising to bring the community together for an evening of delicious seafood, live music, and good old-fashioned fellowship. Hosted by the Knights of Columbus Council 9759 at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, this beloved tradition has been a highlight of the season for nearly two decades.

A Feast for Every Palate

Kicking off on Friday, March 7th, and running every Friday through April 11th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the Fish Fest serves as a perfect gathering spot for families, friends, and neighbors. Every week, the event dishes out an average of 500+ meals, ensuring that everyone can partake in the season’s bounty. The menu boasts a range of seafood delights—from classic fried, baked, and grilled fish to an exciting new addition: a blackened salmon entrée that is already turning heads. With its emphasis on freshness and flavor, the festival truly offers something for every taste.

Live Music and Lively Atmosphere

No community festival is complete without a bit of entertainment, and the Fish Fest delivers in spades. Attendees will enjoy live performances by The Prairie Grass Band and Horizon Band, setting a festive tone that perfectly complements the spirit of the evening. Whether you’re observing Lent or simply love the idea of a community coming together over great food and music, the Fish Fest offers a warm, inviting environment for all.

Fish Fry Fridays: A Lenten Tradition of Faith, Fellowship, and Food

Catholic churches host fish fry events during Lent, a 40-day season of reflection, prayer, and fasting leading up to Easter. Lent is observed as a time of spiritual renewal, during which many Catholics abstain from eating meat on Fridays as a form of sacrifice and penance. Since fish is not considered meat under traditional Church guidelines, fish fry events became a popular and communal way for parishes to bring people together while following this tradition. These gatherings provide a welcoming space for fellowship, fundraising, and honoring the Lenten practice of simplicity and self-discipline.
