American Legion Post 164 Katy to Welcome Houston Area Honored Veterans Returning from Washington D.C.
On Saturday, September 30, the Color Guard of The American Legion Jonathan D. Rozier Post 164 Katy will be on hand at Houston Hobby Airport to present the colors and to welcome home a special group of Houston area Veterans returning from Washington D.C. through Honor Flight Houston.
Honor Flight Houston is a non-profit and part of the nationwide Honor Flight Network. Honor Flight transports our heroes from Houston to Washington D.C. to visit and reflect at memorials dedicated to honor their services and sacrifices. Honor Flight Houston aims to help every single veteran in America, willing and able of getting on a plane or a bus, visit THEIR memorial. Top priority is given to America’s most senior heroes — survivors of World War II in the East Texas Region and any veteran with a terminal illness who wishes to visit THEIR memorial. The program is accepting applications from veterans who served during the Korean War and Vietnam War and has received the Korean/Viet Nam Service medal and resides in the greater Houston Area.

Kennedy (USMC-R, MSgt), Michael L. Owens (USN-CTIC), Eddie L. Tardy (USA, E5), Charles S. Deluke (USAF, A1C), Billy George Lacy (USA,Combat Medic), Gary M. Patton (USA, 1st Lt.), Don Crass (USA, Spec E4), Henri P Boucher (USMC, E3), James D. Stephens (USAF, A1C), Dorman C. Davidson (USA, SP3), Benjamin Fontenot (USA, E7), Alfred J. Benavides, Sr. (USN, E3), Richard A. Dix (USA, Msgt), William W. Karp (USA, Combat Medic), Jesus Salinas (USA, E3), Gilberto DeLeon (USAF, E3), Henry Taylor Milligan (USMC, Sgt) and Scott Mosley (USMC, Capt).
Katy resident Henri P. Boucher served from September 1966 through September 1972. Boucher was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, in January 1948. At the age of four, his family moved to Salem, New Hampshire where he graduated from Woodbury High School in 1965 and went on to complete his first year of Electronics Engineering at New Hampshire Technical Institute. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1966, graduated from Basic Training at MCRD Parris Island and went on to complete his Infantry Training at Camp Lejeune.
Boucher graduated from Communications School at Camp Pendleton, CA and was assigned to FMF WESTPAC. After additional Infantry training with Staging BN at Camp Pendleton he was assigned to various Fleet Marine Force units, including 3rd Force Service Regiment (Japan), 5th Communications Battalion (RVN), 3rd Marine Amphibious Force (RVN), 2nd Brigade ROKMC (RVN). During the 1968 Tet Offensive and siege of Khe Sanh, Boucher was assigned to the 26th Marine Regiment. Upon return from overseas assignments, Boucher was assigned to Base Communications, Marine Corps Base, Quantico.
Upon completing his active-duty service, Boucher returned to Salem, NH and married his High School sweetheart, Joanne Radziwill and continued to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve, Delta Company 1st BN 25th Marine Regiment, until his discharge in 1972. Mr. and Mrs. Boucher have 2 sons, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. They currently reside in Katy, Texas.
Recognized veterans will be arriving in Houston on flight no. 29, which is scheduled to arrive at 5:30 p.m. on September 30, 2023 at the Departure Level in Terminal A of Hobby Airport near the Delta ticket counters.
