Senate Avenue Brewing Company Shines at Fredericksburg Craft Beer Festival with Multiple Awards

June 12 2024

Jersey Village-based Senate Avenue Brewing Company has made an impressive mark at this year's Fredericksburg Craft Beer Festival, taking home three awards from the competition.

The festival, now in its third year, was held on June 7th and 8th, 2024 at the Marktplatz (Market Square) in downtown Fredericksburg. Organized by the Fredericksburg Rotary Club, a non-profit organization, the event showcased craft beer tastings, music performances, a food court, and a 'Suds & Tastes' tent. But it isn't just all about beer and entertainment, as 80% of the festival's proceeds will go towards the Rotary’s local charitable efforts and 20% to the Hill Country Community Needs Council.

As part of the festival, the Fredericksburg Craft Beer Competition held its awards ceremony and dinner on June 7th at Altstadt Brewery in Fredericksburg. The contest, open to all Texas breweries licensed to produce and sell beer in the state, evaluated entries by a panel of experienced beer judges and volunteers from across Texas.

That is where Senate Avenue Brewing Company shone, winning two Gold awards for their 'Vienna Party', a smooth and malty, light Vienna-style Lager and 'Ballot Bock', a traditional German Bock, in the 'Amber Bitter European Beer' and 'Amber Malty European Beer' categories respectively. Their 'House of Lords', a malty English bitter with biscuit notes, also nabbed a Silver in the 'British & Irish Ale' category.

Senate Avenue Brewing Company is more than just a brewery. Opened in 2020 by Andrew and Michelle Mitcham, it is also a taproom celebrating public service, serving not only a diverse range of beers, but also wines, spiked seltzers, and sodas. They also offer a tantalizing menu featuring American fare with a twist, and internationally-inspired dishes like Bison burgers, chicken kebobs, blood orange sorbet, chicken kebobs, soft pretzels, a variety of wings, pizzas, and tacos.

Regularly hosting events and even sporting a running club, Senate Avenue is a hub for the Jersey Village community. And its recent accolades at the Fredericksburg Craft Beer Festival only further cement its standing as a craft beer hotspot in Texas.
