FEMA Opens Disaster Recovery Center in Harris County for Residents Affected by Severe Storms and Flooding

May 28 2024

According to a recent release, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has established a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the Thomas A. Glazier Senior Center to provide essential support for the residents of Harris County, grappling with the aftermath of severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, and straight-line winds that began on April 26.

Located at 16600 Pine Forest Lane, Houston, TX 77084, the center will be operational seven days a week between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Residents can walk in without any prior appointment to get one-on-one support related to disaster recovery from FEMA and U.S. Small Business Administration representatives. For those who need a reasonable accommodation or sign language interpreter, please call 833-285-7448 and press 2 for Spanish.

The DRC is engineered to be accessible for individuals with disabilities or functional needs, being well-equipped with assistive technology. FEMA is ensuring that everyone affected has access to the help and resources they need for recovery.

FEMA is providing several avenues for homeowners and renters to seek assistance. They can visit the center or utilize online resources at DisasterAssistance.gov or the FEMA App to apply for aid. Alternatively, FEMA's helpline at 800-621-3362 is available for those who prefer to connect by phone.

For real-time updates and the latest information, residents are encouraged to visit fema.gov/disaster/4781.
