Zube Park Splash Pad Reopens for Summer Following Major Repairs and Extended Hours in Hockley

For many families in Hockley and northwest Harris County, summer isn't complete without a trip to Zube Park. Now, one of the park's most popular attractions is back in action.

The Zube Park splash pad officially reopened on May 30, just in time for the busy summer season, following months of repair work to address underlying structural issues. Along with the reopening, Harris County Precinct 4 has extended splash pad hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., giving families even more time to enjoy the water on hot Texas afternoons.

"The Zube Park splash pad is officially back open just in time for summer! We have worked hard to improve this beloved space, and I am so proud to have it ready to enjoy for families in Hockley and across Harris County," Commissioner Lesley Briones announced.

More Than Cosmetic Improvements

While visitors may simply notice a refreshed splash pad, the work behind the scenes was significant.

Earlier this year, Harris County Commissioners Court approved an additional $158,739 for contractor Kraftsman, L.P. to complete foundation stabilization measures after previously undiscovered site conditions compromised the original design and led to structural failure of the existing splash pad amenity. The additional funding brought the total project investment to $565,258.

The repairs were intended to ensure the splash pad could safely serve families for years to come—not just this summer.

A Destination for Families Across Northwest Harris County

Located at 17751 Becker Rd, Hockley, TX 77447, Zube Park spans 225 acres and has become one of Harris County Precinct 4's most popular outdoor destinations.

Beyond the splash pad, visitors can enjoy nearly three miles of trails, a playground, picnic areas, reservable pavilions, exercise stations, a disc golf course and the park's beloved operational steam and diesel model trains. The park map also highlights soccer fields, Little Cypress Creek, covered picnic areas and numerous family gathering spaces throughout the property.

The park is named for the Zube family and includes 117 acres purchased from the State of Texas in 1867 by Carl "Charles" Friedrich Zube, who immigrated from the Kingdom of Prussia in the mid-1850s. Today, the historic property continues to serve as a gathering place for generations of local families.

Planning a Visit

The splash pad is open seasonally from May 1 through Sept. 30, and families can now enjoy the amenity daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Whether children are cooling off in the splash pad, families are enjoying a picnic under the pavilions or visitors are taking a ride on the miniature trains, Zube Park continues to offer one of the most diverse outdoor recreation experiences in northwest Harris County.

With the repairs complete and summer in full swing, the reopening marks the return of a community favorite that many local families have been eager to enjoy once again.
