Where to Watch July 4 Fireworks Around San Antonio Tonight, From The Alamo to Woodlawn Lake and Hemisfair

San Antonio / New Braunfels  /  San Antonio / New Braunfels
July 04 2026

San Antonio has no shortage of places to look up at the sky and watch fireworks on Independence Day.

As the country celebrates America’s 250th birthday on Saturday, July 4, 2026, the greater San Antonio area is marking Independence Day with professional fireworks displays, drone shows, downtown festivities, family events and community traditions spread across the city and nearby Hill Country communities.

For local families, the timing gives this Fourth of July a little more weight. America 250, also known as the nation’s semiquincentennial, marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In San Antonio, where history, military service, neighborhood pride and public celebration are all part of the city’s identity, the milestone is showing up in more than one place — from The Alamo to public parks and hometown fireworks shows.

It also makes public professional fireworks displays especially important. Fireworks are prohibited within San Antonio city limits, and local officials continue to urge residents to choose organized shows rather than setting off fireworks at home. For families looking for “fireworks near me” in San Antonio tonight, the safest and easiest answer is one of the area’s public displays.

The Alamo Adds Historic Meaning to San Antonio’s America 250 Celebration

Before the fireworks begin, families can start the holiday at one of the most meaningful historic sites in Texas.

The Alamo is hosting Independence Day at the Alamo today at 300 Alamo Plaza, with free public programming tied to America’s 250th anniversary. The Alamo’s Living History team is offering family-friendly activities, including a patriotic flag project, a children’s drill-and-march lesson and a battle drum program.

The Alamo is not listed as hosting its own fireworks display, but its downtown location makes it a natural stop for families spending the day near Alamo Plaza, Houston Street, the River Walk and Hemisfair. For visitors who want to pair history with fireworks, the nearby Stars & Stripes Downtown Spectacular at Civic Park at Hemisfair is scheduled to close the evening with a professional fireworks show.

Woodlawn Lake Hosts San Antonio’s Official Fourth of July Celebration

One of San Antonio’s best-known Independence Day traditions returns to Woodlawn Lake Park, where the San Antonio Parks Foundation and the City of San Antonio are hosting the official H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration.

The free event runs today at Woodlawn Lake Park, 1103 Cincinnati Avenue, with live entertainment, family activities, carnival rides, food and a fireworks finale. The celebration is also being framed around America’s 250th anniversary, giving the longtime West Side gathering a special place in this year’s holiday lineup.

For many families searching for where to watch fireworks in San Antonio tonight, Woodlawn Lake remains one of the city’s most familiar answers. The park setting gives residents room to gather, and the lakefront view has helped make this one of San Antonio’s most recognizable July 4 traditions.

Downtown San Antonio Fireworks at Civic Park at Hemisfair

Downtown San Antonio is also taking on a larger role this year with the Stars & Stripes Downtown Spectacular at Civic Park at Hemisfair.

The fireworks display is scheduled for 9 p.m. and will light up the skyline from Civic Park, 210 S. Alamo Street. The display is part of the broader Stars & Stripes on Houston Street celebration, which includes music, food, family-friendly activities and a full day of downtown Independence Day programming.

For families planning to spend July 4 near the River Walk, The Alamo, Hemisfair or Houston Street, this downtown fireworks display offers one of the most central options in San Antonio.

Red, White & Bexar Celebration at Mission County Park

On the South Side, Bexar County is hosting the Red, White & Bexar Celebration at Mission County Park I, located at 6030 Padre Drive.

The free event begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes live music, food trucks, carnival rides, inflatables, face painting, balloon artists, children’s activities and family entertainment. The evening is scheduled to close with a drone and fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

For families near South San Antonio, the Mission Reach, Mission County Park and surrounding Bexar County neighborhoods, Red, White & Bexar offers a convenient public celebration without requiring a trip into the downtown core.

Retama Park Stars & Stripes Spectacular in Selma

Northeast of San Antonio, Retama Park in Selma is hosting its Stars & Stripes Spectacular presented by University Health Retama Hospital at 1 Retama Parkway.

The free, all-ages event begins at 6 p.m. and includes local vendors, a car show, games, bounce houses, horse rides and food and drink specials. The night is scheduled to end with a professional fireworks show beginning at approximately 9 p.m. No ticket purchase is required.

For residents in Selma, Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City, Live Oak and northeast San Antonio, Retama Park adds another public fireworks option close to home.

Boerne Fireworks at City Park

Northwest of San Antonio, Boerne is hosting its official Fourth of July fireworks display at Boerne City Park, located at 106 City Park Rd, Boerne, TX 78006.

The City of Boerne lists the fireworks for 9 p.m. today at Boerne City Park as part of its America 250 celebration. The city is also encouraging visitors to enjoy downtown Boerne, the Hill Country Mile, extended shopping hours, dining specials and local activities during the holiday weekend.

For families in Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch, Leon Springs and nearby Hill Country communities, this hometown fireworks show offers a more local alternative to the larger San Antonio celebrations.

New Braunfels Fireworks Over Landa Park

New Braunfels will host its annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular over Landa Park tonight, with fireworks scheduled to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.

The fireworks will be fired over Landa Lake and viewable from areas throughout Landa Park, the Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs and the Fredericksburg Baseball Fields. The city is also encouraging residents to tune in to KGNB 1420 AM or 103.1 FM for patriotic music timed with the display.

For families in New Braunfels, Garden Ridge, Canyon Lake and along the I-35 corridor, Landa Park remains one of the most established Fourth of July fireworks destinations near San Antonio.

Schertz Fourth of July Jubilee

The City of Schertz is celebrating both America’s 250th anniversary and the 50th Annual Fourth of July Jubilee, a major milestone for one of the area’s longtime Independence Day traditions.

The two-day celebration includes a 5K, downtown parade, carnival, live music, family activities and an expanded fireworks show. On Saturday, July 4, live music begins at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m. and a historic plane flyover courtesy of the Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing.

For residents in Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City, Selma and northeast San Antonio, the Jubilee is one of the area’s most established public Independence Day celebrations. Check out the event map here.

Ticketed Public Fireworks Options in San Antonio

Several ticketed attractions are also open to the public tonight for families who want a full evening of entertainment before the fireworks.

SeaWorld San Antonio is hosting a Fourth of July fireworks display as part of its holiday celebration, with patriotic entertainment, animal experiences, rides and nighttime programming included with park admission.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is hosting Star-Spangled Nights Fireworks presented by M&M’S from July 3–5 as part of its Celebrate America’s 250th programming. The park is promoting the event as a patriotic fireworks celebration with music and nighttime entertainment.

At Nelson Wolff Stadium, the San Antonio Missions are hosting an H-E-B Independence Day Celebration tied to America’s 250th birthday, with country artist Wade Bowen scheduled to headline the event. This is a ticketed option for families who want to pair baseball, music and a West Side holiday celebration.

A Once-in-a-Generation Fourth of July Across the San Antonio Area

What stands out this year is not just the number of fireworks displays, but how spread out they are.

Families can celebrate downtown near The Alamo and Hemisfair, gather by the water at Woodlawn Lake or Landa Park, stay closer to the South Side at Mission County Park, head northeast to Retama Park or Schertz, or choose a Hill Country-style evening in Boerne. That matters in a region where traffic, parking, summer heat and family schedules all shape how people spend the holiday.

It also says something about San Antonio itself. The city’s Fourth of July celebration is not confined to one skyline or one park. It stretches across neighborhoods, suburbs and nearby communities, giving families more than one way to mark America’s 250th birthday together.

Residents heading out tonight should check official event pages before leaving, arrive early, bring water, plan for traffic and follow local parking and safety instructions. Professional fireworks shows remain the best way to enjoy the holiday while keeping families, pets, homes and neighborhoods safer.
