Waterwise Fest Brings Music, Magic, and Smart Water Tips to Katy’s Central Green at LaCenterra

September 23 2025

Families from Falcon Point East and neighboring communities are invited to join the fun at Waterwise Fest, coming to Central Green at LaCenterra on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.This free, family-friendly event combines local entertainment with a serious mission: teaching the community how to conserve water and secure a sustainable future.

Hosted by surrounding MUDs in partnership with the North Fort Bend Water Authority (NFBWA), which serves Falcon Point East, Inframark, Willowfork Drainage District, and Central Green, Waterwise Fest is a chance to learn more about how we can all protect one of our region’s most precious resources—while enjoying an afternoon filled with music, activities, and giveaways.

The event will feature the NFBWA Smart Lab, an interactive experience that helps demystify the science of water conservation. Kids will love the balloon art, face painting, and face stickers, while adults can pick up practical conservation tips at the educational table. A live DJ will bring energy to the lawn, and the whole family can take home useful resources and fun freebies.

Why It Matters for Falcon Point East

While the fun is front and center, Waterwise Fest also highlights a critical issue affecting the Katy and North Fort Bend region: subsidence—the sinking of land due to over-pumping of groundwater. The NFBWA was created in 2005 to address this growing concern by reducing reliance on groundwater and transitioning to a sustainable supply of surface water.

Through regional cooperation and strategic infrastructure development, the NFBWA helps over 600,000 residents across 141 square miles keep water flowing without jeopardizing future supplies. The organization has already exceeded its first groundwater reduction goal (cutting groundwater use by more than 30%) and is now working toward the next major milestone: a 60% reduction by 2027, as mandated by the Fort Bend Subsidence District (FBSD).

By attending Waterwise Fest, residents can see firsthand how these large-scale efforts translate into simple steps at home—like upgrading to smart irrigation, adjusting water use during drought stages, and taking advantage of local conservation programs.
