U.S. Navy Band to Perform Free Concert for Public in CFISD
The United States Navy Band will perform a free concert Feb. 3 at the CFISD Visual and Performing Arts Center (11420 Matzke Road) at 7 p.m. As part of the Navy Band’s 2024 national tour, the concert is a family-friendly event meant to connect community members across the country with the Navy.
All U.S. Navy Band performances are free and open to the public. Ticket reservations are required and available on the Navy Band’s website.
The U.S. Navy Band is the flagship musical organization of the Navy and one of 11 Navy bands located around the world. The full ensemble is based at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington D.C. and has been touring the United States since 1925. Sailors are full-time professional musicians and are part of six performing ensembles in the Navy Band (Concert Band, Ceremonial Band, Sea Chanters chorus, Commodores jazz ensemble, Country Current country/bluegrass ensemble and the Cruisers popular music group).
“For many years, Navy bands have been where it matters, when it matters, just like the rest of our Navy,” said Capt. Kenneth Collins, U.S. Navy Band commanding officer. “Today, we have sailors performing around the world, improving relations with our allies abroad as well as telling the Navy story here at home.”
