Two New 24-Hour Ambulance Stations Open in North Harris County

September 22 2025

Emergency response coverage is expanding in North Harris County with the opening of two new 24-hour ambulance stations operated by Harris County Emergency Services District 11 (ESD 11) Mobile Healthcare.

The newly added stations—Station 411, located on the main ESD 11 administrative campus at 18334 Stuebner Airline Road in Spring, and Station 412, situated in partnership with the Ponderosa Fire Department at 21455 Imperial Valley Drive in Houston—are now fully operational and ready to respond.

According to ESD 11, the goal behind these new sites is to strengthen access to emergency medical care and reduce ambulance response times in the area.

“Your care is our priority,” said Kevin Nutt, Chief Operations Officer at ESD 11. “The addition of two new 24-hour ambulances ensures that resources are available around the clock for our community. Units 411 and 412 are strategically positioned to respond where and when they’re needed most. This expansion strengthens our ability to reduce response times and delivers on our commitment to provide coverage without compromise.”

A Growing District, A Busy System

Harris County ESD 11 covers a 177-square-mile region across northern Harris County, serving communities like Spring, Cypress Station, North Houston, and parts of Aldine. It’s the largest ambulance-only Emergency Services District in Texas, and one of the busiest, handling more than 65,000 calls a year.

The district says these new stations are part of ongoing efforts to keep up with area growth and shifting demand for EMS services. For residents, it may mean shorter wait times when an ambulance is needed, particularly in areas that previously relied on mobile units deployed from farther away.

Behind the Scenes at ESD 11

In addition to its ambulance operations, Harris County ESD 11 runs a dedicated 911 dispatch center—known as Control—which holds the ACE Accreditation from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch. This national recognition points to high standards in emergency call handling, dispatch efficiency, and ongoing staff training.

The district says this level of accreditation also supports recruiting, litigation preparedness, and consistency in patient care across the system.

What This Means for Residents

  • Round-the-Clock Service: Both stations are staffed 24/7, which helps ensure ambulance availability even during peak times or overnight.
  • Strategic Locations: The sites were selected to improve response times in high-density and underserved areas.
  • Local Access: With more units now based closer to neighborhoods, residents may benefit from quicker arrivals during emergencies.
